Small belly = Small baby???

So I am a little angry!!!

I swear if I hear the words 'Your 7 1/2 months?? Your belly is so SMALL!!'   again I think I will have to shoot somebody!  It used to bother me that my belly wasn't getting as big as I wanted since I have a big pregnant belly fetish, but now I think of it as at least I won't have to lose 876 pounds once he is born.

But its getting old now to hear 17 times a day that my belly is soooo small! Its like dang you see me every day so you don't have to keep saying it! I can SEE that my belly isn't as big as all the other pregnant ladies in my church!

Somebody mentioned that I could just have a small baby. That kinda worried me, cuz I don't want him to be small! I want him to be normal size! Somebody else said that I could just be all baby and no extra fat. I'm thinking thats it because I feel every little flutter that he makes in my belly.

I don't know....I am not having a good morning so maybe thats why I'm so upset about this. Has anybody else had a healthy sized baby even though their belly wasn't huge?

Nah, small belly doesn't automatically mean small baby. Everyone carries differently. Sometimes you see someone who is just huge and you think it must be twins, but it isn't. Sometimes you see people who barely look pregnant.
And you don't know, it may change, you might wake up one morning and be bigger. Especially since this is your first, it takes longer to show and your abdominal muscles aren't as stretched. Some of those who are looking bigger might be having a 2nd baby.

Have you ever seen the show "I didn't know I was pregnant"?  Some of those ladies were wearing bikini's 2 weeks before delivering their suprise babies, and those babies range in weight from 4lbs - 8lbs.  So you never know.  Also my niece was told both times with being pregnant( by ultrasounds) that her babies were going to be 7-8lbs and both ended up being 10lb ers.  My other niece hardly looked pregnant and ended up having 7 1/2 lb babies.  Good Luck and I am sure your little man is growing right on target.

When I was preggo with my 2nd I had a HUGE belly omg I could kill a man with one swipe from that thing lol. However when he was born he only weighed 6lbs 4oz soo big belly doesnt mean big baby and vise versa. each pregnancy is different and it could also have to do with the placment of your placenta too cause with my 1st it was right out in front so I didnt look as big with him(at least thats what my OB told me). He was born 5wks early so idk if he would have been big or small if I made it to my due date.

I would rely more on how you're measuring at your OB appts to determine if the baby is small or not. If you're measuring on target, your baby is probably average size so don't sweat it. I carried smaller with my first up until the very end b/c my uterine/abdominal muscles weren't stretched out.... With the 2nd one, I carried a little bigger a little earlier. And with this 3rd pregnancy, I'm already way popped out and I'm only 16 wks 4 days!
It also depends on the way your uterus is oriented (if it's "tipped" in one direction or the other), how much abdominal fat you have, etc...
My first 2 babies were both 9 lbs exactly eventhough I carried "bigger" with one than I did with the other. So far this current baby is measuring normally.
Good luck and enjoy your pregnancy. :)

Try not to sweat it too much!  I'm 33 weeks and I look almost the same as I did at 5 months.  However, my uterus is measuring right on target (and has the whole time) it just depends on how our bodies distribute the baby.  I've recently been told "you don't even look pregnant" (I have a VERY obviously pregnant belly, FYI) and I kind of wanted to punch the lady... seriously, if this is me "not looking pregnant" how big of a gut do you think I have normally?!  I've decided people just say stupid things!  I know the baby is measuring fine, I think I look pretty adorable, and my doc is happy with my growth and weight gain, so everybody else can just learn to practice a little bit of "if you don't have anything nice to say..."  I guess the trouble is that many people think "OMG, you're so tiny..." is a compliment.  I just take it all with a grain of salt!  You're doing great!

I had a very small preggo belly. In fact when my water broke at 38 weeks 6 days the nurses in labor & delivery were nervous when I first came in because they said I only looked about 25-30 weeks. My daughter was 7 lbs, 9 ounces so she was normal weight. I carried more in my back I think because I was not very round around and I never really got that pointy belly that sticks out either later on in my pregnancy. It's how the baby lays inside you and all I believe.

It was true for me.  I never ever looked big at all.  Sage was 6lbs 6oz.  I saw a friend today, she said "how far along are you?" I said 5 months  she said "omg I cant even tell."  I got it all the time last time and I expect it all the time this time.  And I expect a small baby this time around too.
