So, I posted few days ago about when to stop BFing. Thank you to those *****plied.
Anyway, my 4 month old is starting to get another cold. Yes, another one! This will be his second cold in just 4 short months. I thought BFing was supposed to keep them from getting sick????
I am so discouraged.
Do you think my RNY is affecting the nutrients he is getting from me?

Yes, still taking all my vitamins. I am wondering if maybe it is symptoms of teething?
i wouldn't think so. I had rny, only breastfed for a few weeks and Sage has never been sick (thank goodness). Sorry your little guy is so sick!

Thanks for replying. Fortunately, the first cold he got was pretty mild. As I mentioned above, I am thinking (hoping) that this is teething symptoms.
I have thought a LOT of teething symptoms were colds but it was just from her teeth. it might be that!

No, it's just the way your kiddo is. I bf'd as well and Rowan still caught everything that came his way. It's getting better now that he's 2. Is your baby in daycare?

No his stays with my parents. I hear once they start daycare/school it gets even worse.
It probably will! On the plus side, there was a study that found that kids who go to daycare actually have lower rates of leukemia - they may develop more robuust immune systems from all the germs they're exposed to! The only other thing you can really do for now is try to minimize any contact he has with other people who have colds.

i BF both my kiddos and my daughter was never sick but my son always sick. They were both pre-RNY so i would think nothing to do with RNY. He does have allergys bad now and he is 4 so i joke saying he is my sensitive little man. I think it's harder on mommy seeing them sick then it is for them. Hope he gets feeling better soon.
