Frustrated
My ob-gyn sent me to a specialist in High Risk Pregnancy. I had them send all my information over yesterday. I called this morning to make an appointment and they told me that the nurse had to go over the medical history and it would be a couple of days before I could make an appointment. I'm sorry I know women have babies everyday, but with my ob not wanting me I am scared for my pregnancy.
I am scared because I don't know these doctors and I am not going to be able to deliver at the hospital that I am comfortable with.
I am sure everything will be fine but I would like to see a doctor. My husband and I decided to after I saw the doctor to tell everyone and it is driving me crazy to wait. I have nnooo patience, I guess I am learning it. Thanks for listening.

My OB has me seeing one but most of the high risk doctors dont deliver your normal OB will or should still do that.My high risk just measures growth of baby and weight and do all that and then watch my cervix.other then that my OB is doing rest the specialist just reports everything back.Usually the doctor works with the same hospital your OB works with.As for them looking over the history thats how it works mine did it as well and takes about a week to get in.
Why did your OB send you to the high risk mine was because of twins then now because of cervix.I wasnt going because my gastric some OB just get scared when they hear that I think. You could always ask your surgeon who did your surgery for a OB who knows more about gastric they may know a good one.
Best of luck to you!

She sent me to the High Risk because I have had RNY. Her office has never delivered anyone that has had RNY. It is a small practice and small hospital.
The hospital that I will be going to is a great hospital don't get me wrong I am happy about that but I guess I am just antsy to get in and get this going.
I assume that the Ob GYN that she sent me to will deliver and do all that. Hope they will call soon! Sorry I am a worrier. Thanks.

I find it frustraing that they are sending you to a HR dr. You shouldn't need to go to one just because of your RNY. My doc did that for my first pregnancy too. I am refusing to allow her to do that this time unless something else goes on to make me HR. It's unecessary as long as you are able to eat enough (which I am assuming you are since your surgery was before mine). I just hate that they are worrying you for no reason.
Mommy to 2 of the most beauiful little girls in the whole universe and still in love with my hubby of 8 years. LIFE IS GOOD!
I agree with the others that there is no need but someone said once that you can actually think of it as a good thing. You will be monitored closer and even better you will get more U/S to see your little one. I had one ever 4-6 weeks and I got to see him as he grew. It was great. I had to go to the HR because my down's risk came back high and they were leary of the surgery.
Its hard to wait but it will be worth it when you get to hear your little ones hearbeat.

I understand the scary feeling of not knowing the docs or the hospital you're comfortable with. I think, on one hand, your old OB is being prudent in sending you somewhere else when dealing with something that she has no experience with!! On the other hand, it's making you nervous. Post RNY patients generally do not need high risk care, but if your OB has not experience with it, it's certainly better to be in the hands of someone who does so you and your baby will get the best care!
You'll feel better once you get in there and meet everyone, I'm sure!
Best wishes to you!!
