6 months out from surgery, 6 weeks pregnant....
Hello all,
We found out on Labor Day that we are expecting our first child. I was (an still am) shocked because we hadn't tried for this little one. We were going to TTC next year. None the less it's happening and my husband is thrilled.
I have lost 72lbs since my Sleeve surgery in March 2011, I am half way to my overall goal. I am concerned about a couple of things, my surgeon and OB both said I was going to be fine and that I would probably only gain 10lbs during the whole pregnancy.
My surgeons office thinks I will still lose all over but just gain the baby, after I deliver the baby I will drop weight like crazy again is what they're saying. Don't get me wrong, I am thrilled to be pregnant but I don't want to lose 5 lbs in 1 week like I did last week. That scared me. This week I maintained. No loss no gain. Just like my doctor wants.
The only other thing is that I don't want people to just think I'm fat again, I hope that I'm actually going to look pregnant. And when will I look pregnant? Before surgery, my highest weight was 291. Now I am 213, I was so excited to get out of the 200's, but now I know it's for a good cause that I'm hanging out in the 200's for longer than I expected.
And on my birthday, 9/15/11 we got to see the first glimpse of our Peanut. I was 5 weeks 5 days at that point and just saw the sac but I still cried. My husband was in shock and awe. The OB wants me back in 2 weeks (on 9/28/11) to do another sono and just wants to monitor me more closely to make sure the baby's weight for gestational age is right on track and that he or she is gaining month to month like it's supposed to.
Well, I guess I'll go for now, just thought I'd share and say Hello!

Welcome to the board and congrats! There are several ladies on this board that got pregnant early out from surgery and continued to loose weight while pregnant and had very successful pregnancies (I'm not one of them.....I'm 7.5 years post-RNY and have gained more than I'd like). Best of luck to you!

I had my surgery in April and got pregnant in August.... so I was about 5 months out.
I lost weight during my pregnancy, had a healthy baby boy in May, lost another 15-20 lbs right after delivery and am still losing today.
Good luck to you.
