Worried!

I just found out today that I am expecting.  I called my Ob to  make an appointment and to ask if there should be anything that I should be doing special since I had RNY.  The lady said that she talked to the PA and there were not sure that they would be able to see me because I might be considered a high risk.  They are waiting on the Dr  to call them back, so it will be Monday before they will know.  Did anyone else have this problem?

I am three and a half years out and I want to be able to do the best for my child.  This is my second child, but it has been 10 years since I have been prego.

Any advice? Thanks

Julie

Looks like we are in the same boat!  I am 3 years out and am 5 weeks pregnant!  My doctors are all super excited about the pregnancy so DON'T WORRY!!  I met with my surgeon, a nutritionist, and the OB and they all said it was LESS risky to have a baby post op than to have one morbidly obese.  You are going to have to maintain your current weight, and a healthy weight gain in total is 15-25 lbs.  Lotsa vitamins, exercise, but we are going to be just fine, and soo are our babies.  I'd meet with surgeon and nutritionist asap to devise a meal plan and vitamin regemine!  Good Luck!

I was considered high risk and saw the OB and Maternal & Fetal medicine for monthly ultrasounds to monitor baby's growth. All went perfectly and according to plan!

Good luck and congrats!

PS Being considered HIgh Risk is a GOOD thing, it means more monitoring of everyone! Which in turn means more reassurance for those of us that are worriers :)

Congratulations!!!!  Don't worry.....its not good for your body.  I was considered "semi high risk", but saw my reg OB.  We just did monthly sonograms until I was 22 weeks to make sure she was growing well.  They started doing non stress tests and ultrasounds weekly at 31 weeks too.  But, all was well, and I delivered a healthy 6 lb 13 oz baby girl at 38 weeks and 4 days.  You will be fine!  So breathe..........and enjoy your pregnancy.
