Post baby/HCG diet?

So I still have about 12 pounds to loose until I am back at pre-baby weight. My daughter just turned 8 months so I don't have any excuses anymore. I am really wanting to loose about 15 pounds actually before we try and conceive again. I just want to start at an healthy weight before conceiving once again. My friends just completed the "HCG" diet and lost 24 pounds in 6 weeks! I am shocked., not that she was a large girl to begin with (she weighed in the 150's and now weighs 134 lbs. Ever since I had my daughter I feel like all I want to do is EAT! I did loose 16 pounds of my pregnancy weight and I will do great for a week or two at the most and even loose 4-6 pounds then I gain it back because I feel like I'm starving (even though I am not). Has anyone else heard of this diet and did it help jump start the weight loss? Did you keep the weight off after wards? I guess the HCG diet are taken by drops and you even follow a certain food list. I read up a little on it and it also says that it can help women with PCOS conceive. I no longer have a problem conceiving but I do still have PCOS, just not as many symptoms anymore due to my previous weight loss with my RNY. Also I heard of the "pouch" test diet to help you have that no hunger feeling again. Has anyone tried this as well after baby? Did it work for you? Thanks ladies. Oh and by the way I already asked my bariatric surgeon and he is aware of my hungry feelings. I am also 2 years out now so I know that I would feel more hungry again eventually, I am just looking for some help to get this weight loss going again. Also I will not be on any diet once I am able to conceieve again for those of you who might get upset. We don't plan on trying to make another baby until next year. Thank-you for advice, experience!

the hcg diet will help you loose your weight... that being said.. its probley wont be a long term loss.... 500 calories a day is insane... its also not big on protien.. i think your best bet is to go "back to basics" ... the weight will come off... you will be hungry and miserable for a few days... but your lifestyle eating habits will be greatly improved

I agree 100%. I've had 3-4 friends all do it. They all lose weight, and then they all regain it, plus some, AGAIN. It's nothing more than a crash diet in my opinion. No different than doing any other supplement. There are articles out there showing that weight loss is based more on the calorie restriction and not the HCG.

I don't know anything about the HCG diet and as far as the pouch test diet, I don't think I could bare to go back to liquids and such.  I found what worked for me after having my last baby and gaining 20lbs above my pre-pregnancy weight was to cut back my food portions and increase my water A LOT (I mean always drinking water), then I started to cut out the bad stuff (sugary foods, greasy foods, pop and coffee) and then I started adding in more protein (focusing on eating protein 1st....even if that included drinking protein shakes or eating low carb protein bars) and then finally I started exercising.  I found by making these changes one at a time (or slowly) that I was able to loose the pregnancy weight.  I also feel these are more realistic and healthy than doing some crash diet to loose a lot of weight in a short amount of time.  It took me 3-4 months to loose those 20lbs, but it was managable.  Sometimes I wished the weight would have come off faster, but of course it didn't come on that fast either!  Best of luck in whatever route you pursue!

Thank-you ladies for your advice & support! I am going to take the "back to basics" approach for now and REALLY try to focus on not giving in like I have been. I do good for 1-2 weeks with protein, and very little carbs, and portion control, but then I have been falling back into ths feeling like I'm starved mode (even though I am not). It's all in my head. I need to find that mind set I had back before I had my surgery and I lost like 50 pounds prior to my RNY. I don't feel the need to loose thatt much of course now, but if I could loose weight prior to my RNY then I can do it now. Thanks again!
