you're smart. i would totally do that. i've been telling my husband for years that we should stock up on diapers. but 1 box a month and then we'll have a nice stash when i finally get preggers. lol. he said we just don't have the room. but i'm so like that. i have t shirts, toys, even halloween costumes for a child that doesn't exist yet. i'm crazy though. lol.

but i would say do it. but you should probably get the advice of someone who's done this before. lol.

HA, I've had everything purchased (all the big stuff) bouncer(2), crib, travel system/carseat, dresser, bassinet, exersaucer, swing, seriously all the big stuff since I was 4 months pregnant. My mom bought us the crib at Target because I had a gift card from someone, plus they had the one I wanted on sale for $50off retail, so we got a $300 convertible crib with changer for right at $200. I have enough clothes to get her through the first 3-5 months easily. I have picked up a lot of her stuff second hand, but I simply refused to pay full retail for stuff she's only going to use for a few months. This is my final child, so no need to buy stuff to save for another. My other child is 13 so we literally had to start all over.

I have picked up diapers here and there, but not a lot since I'm having a "diaper/wipes/gift cards" shower next month. Plus, I have 2 girlfriends who had baby girls about 4-6 months ago so I'm catching a lot of their gently worn clothing, blankets etc.

I'm way too much a planner to wait until the last minute to get everything. If I can catch stuff on sale, I'm buying it. Her crib set finally dropped $40 so I'm buying it this week since it's pay week HA.

Don't forget to sign up for all the "baby clubs" for your local grocery stores. Down here Publix and WinnDixie offer baby club coupons be mailed to you every month. You can stack them with manufacturer coupons on diapers, wipes and other stuff. I love Publix because a lot of them are BOGO coupons paired with a manufactuer coupon and I save big bucks on little necessities that babies go through like crazy. Also, you can sign up for the Huggies, Pampers, rewards and they'll mail you coupons too. Yep, I'm one of those "moderate couponers", not extreme shelf-wiping, dumpster diving couponers, but I never pay full price for anything.

I would just research the heck out of the brands offered at the NEX, pull reviews on the cribs they have listed. They have some obscure brands sometimes, and the reviews are kind of limited on the NEX website from what I was reading when we were looking at purchasing stuff there.

Have fun ! ! !

If you find a great deal go for it! YOu can always leave it in the box until things get closer if you are uncomfortable setting it up (I was - darn nerves!) I also know a lot of people suggested buying giftcards once a week or once a month that you can use on diapers or necessities later on. That way the money is "reserved" for whatever you need when you need it. Throughout my pregnancy I did buy diapers and in different sizes - Newborn through size 2. They never go bad and don't go to waste! I don't think I bought diapers until she was a few months old!

Oh and don't discount the store brands! WE LOVED target brand diapers formula and wipes - they are equal or better to the name brands and a lot cheaper!

I say go for it if it's something you really like and is a great deal!  The other women also gave great advice about stocking up on diapers.  Like the last poster said, don't be diaper name specific....you might find you like a store brand just as much and save more money.  I get awesome deals on Walgreen's diapers (BOGOF plus I use Walgreen's coupons).  You can also print coupons from Target.com on store brand and brand name diapers (remember you can stack Target coupons with manu coupons).  Also remember that Walmart accepts competitors coupons along with manufactures coupons and will price match to other stores sale ads.

I don't think it's too early to buy the furniture. You don't have to set it up and you know the NEX would take it back. Our changing table and nursery chair are from the NEX. My parent's bought them for us and we love them. (On that note, can I just give you some advice on the nursey chair? Buy a rocker recliner! Don't buy a chair you can't comfortably sleep in. I LOVE the chair in my nursery because it is soooooo comfortable and I spent a lot of time dozing in that chair and still do sometimes).

As for diapers...we bought all different sizes in all different brands before the baby came. Don't listen to anyone that says you won't nede newborn diapers, get at least some! My daughter SWAM in size 1's when she was first born! I think you have to try all the brands and having a big stock when you start out is AMAZING! We bought a pack every time we went grocery shopping and we're going to start doing that again now. I agree that you shouldn't discount store brands, but they don't fit all kids the same. I hated Target diapers when my daughter was in size 2's but love them now that she's in 4's. I loved Pampers when she was a newborn, but hated them when she was in size 3's. I love love love Kirkland diapers (Costco brand). They are made by the same company that makes Huggies. I have loved both Huggies and Kirkland in any size. Apparantly Wal-Mart brand is new and improved so I am giving them another shot. It's worth trying. So my advice is to stock up as much as you can before and try all different kinds.

I got everything was before i even know what i was having.  My husband thought i was crazy but i even bought a coming home outfit for a girl cause it was toooooo cute and on sale.  As luck had it i found out like 3mo later i was having a little girl.  My only prob with diapers was both my kids had allergies to certain brands so i had to be carefull and also had to take sev. packages back with my daughter.  Good thing is the store didn't give me a hard time bout exchanges. So go for it and save some cash.

Why wait? I'm only 12 weeks, but my mom is coming up to go baby furniture shopping (consignment) with me next weekend. Nothing wrong with being prepared.
