Baby naming caused one of the biggest headaches in my marriage. My husband is extremely traditional while I am, well, NOT. My 13yr old son's name is Caysen Blake. Not too unique, not off the wall, no formal meaning, but I liked it back then and it wasn't a "popular" name. My husband wanted family names to be passed down if we had a boy. Well, he's from West Virginia, God love him, but with family names such as Clyde, Delmar, Elzine, Donzel, (I **** you not on those names), I simply refused to carry on any of those God-forsaken hillbilly names. His name is Johnathan, and he refused to carry on his middle name so no "junior", but we had decided that we would name a boy Johnathan Brian(after my brother). For a girl, we didn't struggle/argue too much. I had several picked out, and once we got confirmation on her gender, we settled on Tatum Adysen(my mom's name is Allison, her nickname is Addie), I threw them together, with a similar spelling as my son's name and VOILA, no arguing over names anymore.

I went to TheBump.com and went down the list. It lets you save your likes. Once I had gone through the alphabet I went back over my faves list and deleted or added as I saw fit. Then I took the ones I liked the best and started combining them to decide first/middle name combinations.

Good Morning Megins,

For me and my spouse we know exactually what we want, and as soon as we heard it - we knew it was perfect!!

If we have a girl it will be Madison Anne, if it is a boy it will be John Mathew

The reasons: I love the Madison and it means daughter of Matthew (which is my spouses name) as for the middle name - it is the same as mine, my moms, and Matts mom.. just seemed like the right thing to do. The only question is do we use the "e" on Anne or not. My mother in law does not have an "e"

For the boy names, my spouses name is Jonathan Matthew (but goes by Matthew), and his father is John, and his best friends name is John - so we are going to go with John in honour of his friend and father. His father is no longer with us.

Cheers,
Carrie
All my best in your journey!

I'm one that likes the 1st name to be something different and one I haven't heard before but fits into our society. The middle name on all 3 of my kids (and will be with this one as well) are all given after a family member. My oldest son is Tresten Dale (after his dad's middle name and his grandpa's name). My daughter's name is Katriel Florence (after my grandma that I loved and adored), my youngest son is named Davin Pavel (after my husband) and this baby more than likely will be Kendin Leos (after my husbands dad and grandfather). My 1st 2 children are from my previous marriage and my last 2 are from my current marriage. My husband is from Czech Republic and at 1st I wanted to use a Czech name, but with my 1st son, nothing seemed to fit or sound right so we went with something more American sounding with a Czech middle name. With this one we looked again at Czech names but decided because my 1st 2 sons names ended in the "n" sound, that this one would fit to have the same thing. Oh and with my 1st marriage we wanted our boy's name to start with "T" because my ex's name was Timothy and our girls name to start with "K" after Kerri (my name). I also have a couple of baby book names, but only got my daughters name from one. My 1st son I thought of on my own (which is close to Tristan but my son's name is pronounced just as it looks). My daughters name is pronounced Kate-tree-l and my son Davin's name (sounds like David but with an N) was from suggestions i got from this board over 3 years ago. Kendin was spelled Kindin in the baby book, but we like it with the "e" sound better than the "i" sound.

Best of luck on your fun journey and picking out names!

I love names that roll of my tounge, my first daughter's name is Joslyn Evelyn, first name we picked and second name after my husbands grandmother who passed 4 months before Joslyn was born, and my second daughter Lillian Mae, Lillian was because I love older names and the second name is actually my maiden name.
Personaly I believe if you love the name then that's all that matters, because YOU are the one who is going to be using it the most...lol

We like to use family names, but I like interresting (but not too interresting) names. Our daughter's name is Lorelai Sage. Lorelai is not a family name, me & hubby both just really like it (Gilmore Girls was our favorite show when we first got married and it's from that show). Sage is my MIL's maiden name. I always liked the name Page and wanted to use it for a middle name, it was pretty easy to change to Sage. For this new one, we already have a name picked out for a boy (we tried to get pregnant for 5 + years so we talked a lot about it). His name would be Eric Miles. Eric is my dad's name and, while more common than I would normally pick, it's not in the top 10 or anything. Miles is my hubby's middle name and his grandfather's middle name. So we're on new territory for a girl since this is the first time we've really had to think about it. Here are some things I keep in mind...what nicknames can come out of this and does it go well with the sibling's name(s)? So my hubby and I both like Constance and Penelope, but we have problems with both Connie & Penny. Also, I don't think Penelope goes great with Lorelai. Lorelai sounds more sophisticated and Penelope sounds cute...anyway, I think we've settled on Genevieve (but it's still possible it could change), but we haven't picked a middle name yet. We feel some pressure to pick an Irish name since we're due on St. Patty's day, but I think we're going to ignore that. Anyway, good luck!

For me and my hubbs I was the one who picked the names after we found out the gender and it took the rest of the pregnancy to sell him on it. My sisters and I have all biblical name and they are the most popular ones at that.. Sarah Becca Rachel Leah... I wanted biblical names too but more unique ones after having grown up knowing at least 10 different Beccas. So we chose Micah Louis and Josiah James. their middle names are names from their grandpas
