I find it impossible to not drink something when I eat.  Unfortunately, sometimes I drink 2 full glasses of water with dinner (especially when eating out or with something that is salty.....like mexican or pasta).

I do.  It was the one thing that was the most difficult for me after surgery.  Now I do.  Never lots, but I do...

I was able to NOT for the first year after surgery... Otherwise I did NOT when I was home or eating at work.  If we were out and about, it was inevitable I felt...

2 and a half years out, I still do not eat with my meals at home - but I don't sit and relax over them most times either.  They are simply not usually social events for us most nights.  So it is easier...

That said the dietician I have to see for being diabetic when I am pregnant is in awe of only two things I have done after RNY - not drinking with meals at home, and I still have not had my first soda since surgery!  She said she has never seen anyone keep those rules this long...

I will maybe take a few sips with my meals every so often, but I usually wait at least a half hour or hour before I will full on drink a glass of water. Now with snacks or a small amount of food (like a few grapes for example), I will drink right after because it's not a big amount of food that I feel will stretch my stoma out when it washes the food out of my stomach when I drink. I really miss drinking with my meals though and I am 3 yrs out.... but I wasn't a big drinker with my meals before surgery though, so it's not a way big deal for me!

Hit goal weight of 140 at 13 months out from RNY!! 130 pounds GONE!

For the most part I don't do it, but if I have something salty I have to have a couple of sips of water to get me through. I was never that way until I got pregnant though. I hope once the baby is born I can go back to no drinking with a meal.

No, I don't drink with my meals.

Yes, I do drink when I eat sometimes - snacks.

What's the difference right?

About half the time when I drink a glass of wine, I eat peanuts or popcorn with it.

my doctor says that it is ok to take sips of water with meals if you really need to but i find that if i drink alot while i eat then i feel sick. it's a habit that everyone does and it takes time to break that.
