Weight gain or loss during pregnancy?

I am sure this has been posted 1000 times.... But I was just wondering what the average weight gain for you all has been during your pregnancies? I am in my 11th week, and have lost 5 pounds. But I am also only 6 months out. Is this normal?

Congratulations! I'm 32 weeks and have gained 12 lbs but I was considered overweight (BMI) and my doc wanted me to gain only 15 to 20 lbs. Weight loss does occur in the 1st trimester due to nausea and vomiting but you should eventually start gaining weight. Just remember to eat a healthy diet. :)

Hi

I didn't lose or gain in the first tri. I didn't gain anything until my last 2-3 weeks of pregnancy. I had Eliana at 38weeks 4 days and gained 8-10lbs. I had lost all that and an extra 3-5lbs by 14 days pp. I still don't know my true weight as I'm breastfeeding & haven't been weighed again. I think everyone will gain and lose differently.

Best wishes

I was about 5 months out when I got pregnant and I lost weight most of my pregnancy. I maintained during my last month and after I gave birth I lost a bunch.

I was a year out when I got pregnant and I gained about 40ish lbs. I only wanted to gain 30 but that's life. My OB was fine with my weight gain. I have lost all of it but 15lbs and Liam is 3 months. I also had gallbladder surgery 8 weeks after I had him so I have been on lift/exercise restriction this whole time.

wow i can't believe how similar we are. i'm a year out now (and TTC). i too only want to gain 30lbs. thats my goal that i'm aiming for. i'm trying to lose 5-10 lbs (realistically i'll be lucky if its 5) to give myself a cushion so i don't go past 200lbs but realistically who knows. you can't predict that stuff. its nice to see that the weight did come off, most of it anyway. thats fantastic.

I was a year out when I got pregnant.  I lost a little weight in my first and second trimesters but gained it back in the third.  So I ended up not gaining any weight during my pregnancy.  About 2 weeks after he was born, I was down 21 pounds and that is where I am at now and he is 2 months old.  I am EBF and I don't really watch what I eat and have been holding steady at my current weight which is fine with me.

I got pregnant at about 16 months post-op.  I'm currently at 15 weeks and I've gained a little over 5 pounds.  I didn't have any morning sickness during the first trimester though so there was no throwing up.  :)  My OB is very happy with my weight gain so far and I'm hoping I don't gain more than about 20 - 25 pounds.

Everyone is different!  It does seem like the girls that get pregnant early out from surgery gain little to no weight or even loose weight!  I was over 4 years post-op when I had my last son and gained 30-35lbs and lost all but 8lbs by my 6 week appt.  With this baby, I'm 33 weeks pregnant and have gained around 35lbs already (and over 7 years post-op).  So yeah, everyone is different!
