BIRTH CONTROL
I've used mirena twice now and loved it. I did have some spotting with it the second time for the first couple of months, but after that I had minimal to no period at all.

Nope! The dose of hormones it contains is much lower than systemic birth control would be.

I knew I wanted to get pregnant in a couple years, so I was using the NuvaRing. I didn't want the Mirena because I wanted something easy to take out myself when I was ready (I've also heard a couple horror stories of the Mirena slipping out of place due to major weight loss, so I didn't want to risk injury THERE).
I didn't want the shot because resources say it can take up to 18 MONTHS to become fertile again after stopping the shot, so it wasn't a good choice for me as far as family planning. There are also major concerns with the shot regarding calcium loss even in younger women, and with WLS already, I didn't need any help in not getting enough calcium.
The NuvaRing said it could take up to 6 weeks to become fertile again after removing the last one, which was much more palatable for me (and I ended up getting pregnant in my very first cycle after I took the ring out, so it actually took, umm, zero weeks for me!).
The only problem I ever had with the ring is that it sometimes came out during intercourse, but then all you do is rinse it off and pop it back in. It can stay out for up to 3 hours without a problem.

I had the implanon implant put in my left arm. I had it for three years, just had it removed on Thrusday. I'm three years post op, and want to try for a little person. We have an 8 year old and he has wanted a sibbling so bad.
With the implanon you don't know its in your arm, no cramp, no month flow no nothing..
I liked having it. I had the Merina a few times and i rejected it both time. I missed carried the second time with it. So yeah my vote is implanon. They numb up your arm and slip it in.. :c)

I haaated implanon when I had it. I had months of intermittent and unpredictable periods, I finally had it taken out at 6 months. It's so hard to tell what is going to work well for each person!
