Hi all, my name is Kim. I have been lurking for a few weeks but this is my first real post to this board.

Here is my "story" as it is. I am 15 months out from RNY. Currently 39 but will be 40 in November. We have been TTC for 3 years and it is a big reason I decided to have RNY. I was going to a RE 2+ years ago and even the strongest doses of meds weren't helping me ovulate. At the same time my 1/2 sister had a little girl and for several reasons she was put into foster care and, as relatives, we were able to adopt her. So at home we have a 2 year old named Cate.

I have lost 100 pounds but am still about 50 more then my goal weight, but I am OK with the weight I have lost. If I never loose anymore it won't bother me. I stopped loosing about the 6 month mark. I have lost about 10 pounds since then, so my weight loss is very stable. With my 40th birthday coming up we decided it was time to "try" again. We gave it 3 months to try naturally but since nothing has happened we went back to our RE on Monday. He is encouraged by my weight loss and had me come in today for a look at my ovary (I only have one, lost the other 10 years ago to a contorted tumor that cut off blood flow and "killed" it.)

He did a couple of tests and found a polyp that needs to be removed before we can go any further but that will happen early in September. He put us on the IVF schedule for November. I am nervous and excited all at once. Anyone else have experience with IVF after WLS? Any thing I should be worried about?

Thanks all...Kim

Hello! Welcome and I just wanted to say that I was also a foster/adoptive Mom. We adopted our baby boy (although he isn't much of a baby anymore, he's 4 yrs old) when he was 8 months old. We got him when he was 3 weeks old. I have never had IVF but my friend did last year and it took the 1st time. Her Hubby and her had been infertile ( both male /female infertility) for close to 5 years. They now have a beautiful baby girl that was born 1 week after my daughter. I also had fertility problems for 10 years and then had my RNY and bam got pregnant. Prior to my weight loss and surgery I had been on three different types of fertility treatments. I also had polyps and cysts removed prior to conceiving. Maybe if they remove the polyps that may d the trick also? Not sure but if they are in the way of allowing eggs to implant that could help. Hope that helps and praying for a BFP for you and your family!

We had an amazing foster/adpotion process. I can't say enough good things about DSHS and how things worked for us. I know each situation is different, but we got Cate at 2 months old. As soon as all our background checks and home visits were approved, and her adoption was just over a year later. Really fast by state standards.

It is nice to hear about your friend's IVF working on the first try. I have a cousin and a friend who have both done 3 cycles and are on to using donor eggs. The first donor cycle for my cousin didn't work either. It makes me a little nervious.

Thanks for the well wishes!
