twins!!!!
I went for my first prenatal appointment on Friday and found out that we are expecting twins!! I am so thrilled. They are fraternal and both are measuring normal in size and both had strong heartbeats.
My doctor wants me to gain a total of about 35-40 lb. She says I should be eating about 2,700 calories a day. I am 2 years out from RNY and am finding this a huge challenge!!
Is there anyone here who has been down the same road? How on earth can I get all these calories in without sabotaging my weight loss (or is that even possible??
Thanks in advance for any advice anyone can offer me!

Congrats!! I'm 3 years out and only taking in around 2000 calories which has been challenging. And at 30 weeks I've packed on 33 lbs already!! Just eat right and get in what you can. The babies will thrive :) Also be sure to do protein shakes again if you've stopped. It's a good source of vitamins, calcium, and GOOD calories.
Just becasue they have seperate placentas, doesn't make them fraternal.
The only way your doctor could tell in utero is if one is a boy and one is a girl otherwise you'd need a DNA test after birth to confirm.
About 25% of all identical twins have seperate placentas/sacs and yet doctors and midwives still spread misinformation about identical/fraternal twins.
My twins were pre-WLS (di/di identical girls), but I did find it to be a HUGE challenge to consume enough calories with my son post-WLS. I drank a lot of full fat milk/ cheese and still only gained 20 lbs and delivered an 8.8 lb baby boy.
goodluck and grats on your twins! They're a challenge, but a lot of fun!
