HI GUys, I am new to this forum, my partner and I are considering trying to have a baby. I am 41 this week so time is ticking!! anyway, neither of us has insurance at the moment and as I am from the Uk the whole dealing with hospitals/finance stuff is very new to me!!

anyway, do hospitals offer fixed price birth packages for uninsured patients?? (we are in Central Fl).
Otherwise I may have to wait till I get a job (I'm a social worker)..any info on all this would be so helpful as we are keen to get started on this but am wary of running into financial issues.

Thanks in advance for any help

I think it would be prudent to look into buying your own health insurance. I don't know about hospitals offering flat rates for births. I don't know if they could do that not knowing if there would be any complications. I have friends who had to purchase their own healthcare plan and it wasn't too bad. Good luck!

you can look into pregnancy medicaid... usually  you and your dr can set up a payment plan of x amount of money to be paid on until youe 28th week.. whatever your hospital fees are will be different from what the dr charges.. they can usually work up a plan with you as well... keep in mind that the average uncomplicated birth/stay in a hospital is about 30g... that being said- you can look into home birth... and generally those DO run alot cheaper then hospital births ( about 4-5g at most).. but you will be delivering with a midwife and not a dr.. the choice and options are so many.. i would love to do a home birth...
