How soon is too soon?

I am only 4 months out and just got a BFP (was using Nuva ring).  I am totally aware that this is very early out from surgery.  Is there any chance I can still sustain the pregnancy?

Has anyone been successful?

Be prepared...you *could* get flamed with how irresponsible it is...etc. Point in case...its done now...so....

I got preg at 9 months post op RNY. I had SEVERAL complications; preterm labor, lack of caloric intake, vitamin defencies  and a few others.

You need to be diligent in staying on top of things. Its not going to be easy, you will feel like you are eating ALL THE TIME! Its cause you are. You HAVE to eat carbs, something about ketosis (sp?) I dont exactly remember all the detaiils, but....I had problems with fainting, lots of problems with fainting. (how it was explained to me, i was getting about 800 calories, making a baby takes about 400 *for the average woman* and that was leaving my "healing" body to try to run on 400 calories.

I had problems getting enough fluids. You know that rule of you cant drink within thirty or so minutes of eating?  Well imagine that you have to eat all day to get close to enough calories...doesnt leave a lot of time for drinking. But...you gotta do it.  And I am confident you will figure out a schedule that works for you. Just remember you HAVE TO HAVE 64 OUNCES A DAY! It is important. If you become dehydrated you can start having REAL contractions...not BH. Which in turn causes the cervix to dialate and your baby could be born really early.

Stay on top of vitamins. Enough said.

Mostly, you need to realize that this may (prob will automatically as it did me) put you in the "high risk" category. You will be monitored closely by your OB and you REALLY need to find someone who will work with your Primary dr, Surgeon, nutritionist and YOU!  Make sure to keep yourself educated on as much as possible. *not to be confused with the "google" method of educating* Dont EVER be afraid to call your doctor for anything that seems "off" to you and for the love of god...FOLLOW YOUR MOTHERS INTUITION! LOL

I hope you have a happy and healthy nine months.

I will tell you, even though I had my baby at 18 months post op (got preg at 9 months out - i did have permission from surgeon, ob and primary...fyi) It wasnt the easiest journey, but it was amazing! I love my daughter more than life itself...hell loved her so much I decided to do it again when she was only 7 months old....LOL

You wil do fine. I have faith!  Now have faith in yourself, and we will see you at the finish line holding a beautiful bundle of joy!

There absolutely IS a chance you can sustain the pregnancy - you're not the first person who's had this happen. However, it will be more challenging than had it happened further down the road. At 4 months, you probably still can't eat very much at a sitting. Do you do protein shakes? If not, they might be a good way to add some calories without trying to overly stuff yourself. If you already do shakes, might want to add another (or a couple) during the day.

You're going to have to stay VERY on top of your labs and supplements.

I have to ask (because I was on NuvaRing) - did the ring fall out ever? did you have sex during the break between rings? Did you maybe leave a ring in for too long so it became ineffective? Were you using the ring pre-op as well?
