What type of BC should I be using

I recently had a baby, and OB put me on BC pills, however, after reading up, I have read that we (RNY) don't absorb them well, and then become pregnant. Any suggestions? Ideas about what else to use?

I myself am going on Mirena (IUD) as are alot of other RNY patients. Just talked to my OB today about it and he says that because the low dose hormones are in the uterine lining instead of ingesting it orally it works alot better :) There are different types, and this one is the more effective one according to him and lasts about 5 years.

I was on BCP about 2 years after my RNY. I never had any issues with absorbing them and never had any pregnancy scares. It wasn't until I came off of them that I got pregnant immediately!!!!

I used NuvaRing. I didn't want an IUD (Mirena or Paragard) because I knew we'd be trying to have a baby within a couple years. I had also considered the Implanon (little rods in your arm), but, again didn't want to have something dug out so we could get pregnant when we wanted to.

I would suggest something other than bc pills.  My 6 week old son was conceived on bc pills.
