in shock...now what? (long vent)
Honestly, I drink crystal light and diet soda's regularly. This is my 4th pregnancy and all of my kids are healthy with no problems. I think it's more of a personal decision. I know these things are not the best for me, but it's terribly hard for me to drink my calories (or sugar) and drinking water all the time is hard to do too. I do try to lower my intake of these drinks while pregnant and drink more water. I also always choose caffiene coffee or pop when it's available (but do drink caffiene time to time).

When I say diluted fruit juice, I do mean DILUTED. And I don't mean the normal juice you would drink straight from the bottle - I mean 100% pure juice, unsweetened. In the past, I've enjoyed doing about 1/4-1/2 cup of pure cranberry juice added to about 30 ounces of water. That juice is about 15g carbs in 8oz, which is about how much I would have all day long.
If you can drink carbonated water - mix it w/some juice and have a 'fruit flavored' soda type drink w/o the artificial stuff. Not that you can't have artificial sweeteners...that's your choice...but just for an alternative. Cranberry works good this way b/c it's a strong flavored juice. You can also put lemon/lime slices, cucumber slices (or cucumber/lemon together), frozen raspberries, strawberries, etc in the bubble water - they'll give a little flavor and make it more palatable.

1. dont.. they dont need to know and its none of their business anyway
2. you can probley get pregnancy medicaid until your insurance kicks in.. if not... think about an appt every 4 weeks... blood work and maybe 2 ultrasounds
3. no.. its just for confirmation.. the best way to date a pregnancy is ultrasound
4. baby doesnt generally take from you until the placenta starts to function about 12 weeks... dont stress over it.
5. if it hurts or you start to feel ill.. stop... depending on how long you have been training your body will either be used to it or it will knock you on your ass and tell you to slow down
agian congrats and welcome!

Several days before I found out I was pregnant...I went on a winery tour , rode a roller coaster, and just had a wonderful great time. I went in for an ultrasound for fibroids and got the surprise of the century! I was 10 weeks pregnant. My OB/GYN told me not to worry, I did...but it was fine! You'll be fine, change your habits (although I drank coffee in moderation and can not live w/o Crystal Light Lemonaid). Do not tell your employer, your job is to protect your family...their job is to protect themselves, so you know which team you are on! The other posters have given you some wonderful advice on the other stuff.
Enjoy your pregnancy, it goes by fast. My lil one is now 5 months old, and it seems like just yesterday when I found out. CONGRATS !!!

we all stress the point of not telling your employer...when you do say something IN A FEW months, just say WOW had the shock my life! JUST found out a couple of days ago!! Here is my example as to what happened last year with 2 jobs with me....
was working for one temp agency that was placing workers in a warehouse/manufacturing type. we made the bath and body works flower clips...we SAT to assemble these things. LOTS of us girls there were pregnant. LOTS of overtime and some of the girls were young and didnt want the overtime cuz they had better things to do, SO they brough dr's notes in saying they couldnt work over certain number of hours...
plant manager went on vacation and came back. All of a sudden we see new faces coming in to replace the ones who were pregnant they let go. PM was talking to a supervisor and flat out said, that if he hears of anyone being pregnant, he is letting them go...right then and there. I was let go the next day after i got back from a Drs appt...there excuse to me for letting me go? i was there for 2weeks and didnt catch on...im like um how hard is it to put a scent in the flower tighten the flower throw it on a converyor..im like fine whatever...
went to a different temp, went to work at a great place, after a couple of weeks where i thought i could trust my supervisors, i told them. they were great, xmas time was coming up which meant slow time and shut down, when they let me go not due to my work but rather having no work and i was pregnant they let me go first. THEY didnt need to tell me it was because i was pregnant. i already knew, BUT it was a blessing in disguise...2days later my dr put me on bedrest til i delivered in dec..i was there for 4mos...
SO, like someone says, its in your best interest NOT to tell them you are pregnant until you either start to show, get past your "probation" stage...I dont know what you do, just take it easy, no heavy lifting drink your fluids...IF they ask you if you are in a couple of months, then your choice to say yes or no.
