10 weeks preggo Biotin & Iron suppliments help...
ok Ladies, I have a situation... Since my RNY surgery in 08 I have had the ongoing low iron and low biotin levels as many others do but now I have found myself pregnant and living in the Netherlands where they are a little more laid back in the suppliments/infusion department. I am taking 65 mg iron 3x a day and my ferritin level tested at 10. As for Biotin, in the the States my Dr told me to take 5000mcg after I lost ALOT of hair the second year after my surgery. The Dr here says there is no need to take but over the last couple of days the cracked mouth corners have returned that I suffered from before starting the suppliments 2 years ago. So my question is this... how much Biotin is safe and what are your doctors saying in the States to those of you that are pregnant? And how much iron suppliments are you being asked to take?
Thanks so much for your help!! :-D

I was taking the chewable iron supplements from Bariatric advantage. When Pregnant I took 2 twice a day. They are a better iron, not the cheap stuff, so it is less likely to constipate you. I take the lemon Lime ones that are 60mg. the website is www.Bariatricadvantage.com
On the Biotin, I do not have an issue with it, so I do not know what to say to help you. I do not know if you have someone in the US or Canada that you can have it shipped to then to you. I do not think they ship to the Netherlands. It is by far the ONLY Iron supplement I am able to absorb! Also I do not know if you can tolerate it, but if you put some molasses in tea, it is high in Iron, and helped me get my levels up fast.
