Ouuuuuch!
I had my gallbladder removed this morning and have been home for the past few hours. I am in extreme pain. I am totally surprised by how painful this is. It hurts worse than my revision from band to sleeve! My surgeon gave me oxycodone which is stronger than any other pain killer i've had, and its barely taking the edge off. I can take 1-2 tabs every 4-6 hours. I took one tab to start with and I still have 1.5 hours left to take it again and I'm dying!
I'm laying in my recliner which is the best position I can find, I was given a stomach binder which feels better on than off. What else can I do? I'm almost in tears... it feels like a gallbladder attack in many ways, that won't stop!
Please help me if you have any advice for me!
Thanks,
Nikki

If you only took 1 you can take the 2nd before the 4 hours are up. Is it shoulder pain? Try gas-X and walking. You did it outpt? I had to stay the night. I hope you get your pain under control. Take 2 even if you think you only need 1.

I started taking the max does of pain meds and it did help a tiny bit more. My surgery was outpatient. Apparently that is the standard of care these days. i would have stayed overnight on a pain drip if given the chance! I do love my recliner though and am living in it for the next few days.
Thanks!

All I can say is try and take it easy... I had mine out a lil over 7 weeks ago and I was in and out of the hospital from how bad my pain was... I was 31 weeks prego at the time and between the baby moving and certain pain meds not working and others making me ill... It was a crappy 2 months between the attacks I was getting before and after the removal of the GB... It does get better... It took me like a month to feel better after the surgery... Not sure if I helped or not but I know how u feel...
My gall bladder was the worst of my major surgeries! (Thyroid removal, appendix, gastric bypass) or childbirth! I was on vicodin - because of my RNY I took the liquid meds and I'd take 1/2 the dose twice as often, that seemed to work for me. I was in major pain, couldn't get off the recliner. Then the gas kicked in the next day OWIE! Walk as much as you can, gas-x is great, heating pad helped some as did having hubby rub it for me. Take it slow and easy and eat very bland. EVERYTHING went right through me for the first month or so. I was out of work a week and was OK when I returned.
Good luck!
Good luck!
Liz - that is a great idea! I will try the 1/2 dose every 2 hours today and see if that helps. I think it will because the half dose did help, but only for a couple hours. The full dose only helps for a couple hours too though so this may be perfect.
