That's a good idea...If I could just remember to throw them in my bag I take to work then I just might get on the right track  :-)

What about getting one of those daily pill divider/container things and keep them in your purse or set on your desk at work and then bring home on the weekend and refill them to start again on Monday?  You should really make taking your vitamins a priority!  You would feel better too!

Definitely a great idea...and I have a few somewhere in the house.
Part of it is just affording the vitamins and knowing which ones to take and all that.
At least while I was pregnant I did 2 prenatals, 1 D3, and 2 folic acid per day...
Any suggestions?
(I know I should add biotin)

When is the last time you had all your vitamin levels checked?  I would highly recommend you do this because things can change so much during and after pregnancy!  As for me, I take the following vitamins 1 time a day (sometimes I take 1 or 2 additional calcium tablets a day, which is recommended as we only absorb 500mg's at a time and we should have a total of 1500mg's daily):

1 complete multi-vitamin
1 folic acid
1 sublingual B-12 (I would highly suggest you take B-12 as it gives us energy and you can't overdose on it)
1 D3
1 calcium citrate (important it's citrate and not carbonate as we don't absorb carbonate)

And then I take 1 iron pill every other day (used to take daily) because my iron levels were on the high side when I had my last bloodwork drawn (having them drawn again tomorrow to see where my levels are at and will adjust if needed).  If you add iron and calcium, you need to make sure you take them 3 hours apart as they wash each other out. So for me, when I take my iron pill, I take it after I eat lunch and all the others I take in the morning.

As for the cost of vitamins, I usually buy the store/off brands or will wait until Walgreens, Rite Aid or Meijer have them on sale for buy one get one free and often pair with a manufactures coupon to get a better deal!  It don't hurt to have extra stock on hand!  Also, it's important to remember that our bodies don't absorb the gel filled or caplets (kind that have the shells on them).

Thank you so much!  I hope you don't mind but I plan to print this off and keep it handy

You mention that no gel filled...I have a D3 that is tiny and I just looked it up and it's a gel cap...so we can't break those down?

I know I can't do those shell kind...they get stuck on the way down and I have to wait forever for them to break up. I've even had to pay extra for antibiotics so that I could get a tablet style over capsule.

I haven't had bloodwork done since the beginning of pregnancy...I have so many issues at the moment I'm afraid of asking for too much time off of work.
ex: each baby appt (1 month, 2 month, 4 month) I've had a sinus/ear infection for over 6 weeks now (I finally broke down and made an appt for the ENT). I need to go to the OB for my yearly. I need to go to the ortho for an MRI on my knee.
I am just afraid of getting in trouble at work-so to make an appt for the PCP for routine stuff just seems at the bottom of my list when I know it shouldn't  :-(

Your very welcome with the vitamin info and I don't mind at all that you print a copy!  Thats what we are here for!  As far as the gel caps go, I believe our bodies don't absorb those like the capsules.  I feel for you with your worry about your job and having all those appointments.  Is it possible to schedule some of those things in the same day, so you miss less time/days of work?  Also, have you checked with your doctors office or pediatrician regarding evening appointments or weekend appointments?  You would be surprised how many offices offer these now!  As far as having your blood work drawn to get your vitamin levels..I was able to call my Baritric surgeons office and they mailed me the lab slip so I could go at my convience.  Many labs are open on Saturday mornings.  I'm sure this all seems overwhelming to you, but it's important to keep yourself healthy for you, your kiddos AND your job!  I wish you the best!
