IVF questions
Good afternoon ladies!
My husband and I have been TTC since 2007. It is male factor due to his semen analysis results. The first time he got an S.A. the urologist stated that we should just go straight to IVF. That was about 9 months ago. We were going through a private fertility clinic then stopped due to cost. OMG, everything is so expensive if you are the one paying completely for it. Well good news, I start a new job on Monday and benefits start the 1st day. The insurance that they have covers IVF(sooooo excited about that), so we were going to continue to try naturally through September then if still nothing we were going to see how our benefits could help us possibly achieve a pregnancy.
I understand how the process works for the IVF but do you think now with insurance we can just pick up where we left off and start IVF this year?
All testings as far as myself and my husband's current semen analysis was done this year.
Any additional information would be helpful also if you have any. Thanks

I have no answer for you, but I wanted to say that its awesome that your insurance covers the IVF...thats a rare thing. When we were trying we were looking into that and our insurance didnt cover it and WOW its expensive! I really really hope you dont have to go that route though, I pray that by Sept you are posting that you got your BFP naturally! :)
it is very expensive trying to pay for it yourself, we tried and had to stop during testing just because they want to test for everything even things you feel you dont need to be tested on(We knew it was male factor). When i was applying and interviewing for the new job i wasnt even thinking about IVF benefits or medical benefits at all since most places do not cover and I have otherwise great insurance (Tricare-military) but when i read that i did become very excited. Even if not naturally, the thought of being able to be a step closer to achieving another pregnancy hopefully let's me know there's hope :)
Thanks for responding and your encouragement

Are you able to go through the same RE? If so, that shouldn't be a problem with the test results. If you have to transfer to a new RE that your insurance coverage, so RE's are very particular about which results they will accept from other places and require that they run their own tests. Our RE even required we drive 7 hours round trip several times a week, because they would only allow Ultrasound monitoring to be done at their clinic.
Even if you do have to go through some of the testing, now you have insurance, and believe me you will hit your deductible very quickly
Best of luck and baby dust! ( I am currently 23 weeks pregnant with my IVF baby due to male factor infertility)

I don't know how it will be with the new insurance, that is awesome they will cover it! I would imagine you could start where you left off, but check with your benefits office.
I just wanted to say that just because they want you to do all the tests doesn't mean you have to. I think we were in a similar situation, the sa was really bad but they wanted to do lots of tests on me. I was refusing them as we didn't think the issue was me and I would rather spend the money on IUI first. With skipping to ivf it doesn't matter for a lot of the tests they want to do anyway (at least with me) because for example wouldn't matter if your tubes were open etc.
Anyway, it turned out I got pregnant naturally so it can happen!! Yea!! ( it was our first month using the digital first response ovulation tests, maybe give them a try if you haven't). We had been using other ones for over a year (all different brands) and this one obviously gave us the best approximation as we only tried once that cycle! :) Good luck!
