6 weeks along and feel horrible!

Hi everyone. I am somewhat new to this board. I had RNY two years ago this month and am currently pregnant with my first child. I am only 6 weeks along, and I must say, I thought the feeling like crap part would happen a little later!

I have felt horrible the past few days. I feel super queasy and nauseated and have no appetite. I feel like I am on the verge of vomiting, but I haven't yet. All I can make myself eat are saltine crackers, sugar free popsicles, and chicken noodle soup. And it is a challenge even to eat that.

I know I need to be concerned about getting my protein in while pregnant, but I can't muster up the appetite to do it as this point. Even the thought of a protein shake makes me nauseated.

I am also so tired. I just lay around all the time. If I get up to do a load of clothes or something similar, I am immediately exhausted and need to lay back down.

Is all this normal? Any tips on doing better with my food intake? I am losing about 2 lb. a day.

i am not much help here but i was the same for about 2 months...lost 35lbs while preggers, started to maintain about the 4th month in and only gained 4lbs (baby was 4lbs 9oz)....but just try to keep getting in what u can and there is this pill u can take safely for the morning sickness called Dicletin, not sure if its available where you are but it's a prescribed pill but i am sure there are other safe forms of this. You need to be able to function to take care of you and baby. Maybe also you could try flavourless protein powder? could use it in anything that you can stomach. good luck and congrats!

Yea, I've been there! The tired part passess after the first trimester somewhat. Until then, take advantage of it and sleep when you can! I would seriously go to bed at 7 at night and sleep for twelve hours. Your body needs it! If you can just be sure to get in a vitamin. Another something that helps with nausea- ginger. I found these wonderful soft ginger cookies- like a snickerdoodle but with ginger in them. You could make some too. The ginger helps with the nausea so much! Some people will make their own ginger lollipops too- it helps a lot. I really didn't want to get medication because I wasn't throwing up just nauseated. But I know meds can really help too! Hang in there. Hopefully you'll feel somewhat better soon.

Zofran if your wanting more food it will help you eat and very safe to take but get the doctor to give you 8mg not the 4mg the eight works longer and better for gastric people like us you wont get all of the four or the eight so if you take the eight you get more close to four.

May my Angles rest in peace.....

I'm 8 weeks and I feel the same way....just the though of food at times gives me the dry heaves (no actual throwing up).  Crackers, dry cereal (cheerios), and unsweet tea seem to keep my stomach calm.

I forced myself to drink a protien shake this morning (I mix with water becasue I can't stand the "thick frothy" shakes....and was able to get it down (I drink mine with ho****er as well....warm does better then cold for me).

It's rough....

Rhie
