if olive oil causes yeast infections then why would my doc reccomend it?

the thing is, i need something oil based. bc water based lubricants don't work for me. is preseed water based or oil based?

Preseed is water based.

Pre Seed Ingredients:  Purified Water, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Pluronic, Sodium Chloride, Sodium Phosphate, Carbomer, Methylparaben, Sodium Hydroxide, Arabinogalactan, Potassium Phosphate, Propylparaben.

Well, on the other hand, they used lots of olive oil to lubricate things on the way out when I had my son! And the NP and my OB's office recommended it for doing pre-birth manual stretching of tissues to prevent tearing/episiotomy (I didn't really commit to doing that, so it didn't help me any).

Re the vulvodynia, there ARE treatments for it and it really is worth looking into them. you probably had a fairly enjoyable sex life before your traumatic incident, wouldn't it be nice to have that back? Based on your description, you might have vaginismus possibly as the two conditions are fairly similar and it looks like they are treated similarly as well: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vaginismus

yeah i saw that in a movie! you massage olive oil into the perinum to prevent tearing. i probably wouldn't be able to keep that up. i can't even remember to do all 7 days of those crest white strips. lol.

you're very right. i'm absolutely going to look into it. i'm looking for places now. yes, it used to be enjoyable. i was normal once. when i read that i almost cried. because i really was normal. and i've suffered like this long enough. thanks for the support.

Do not use KY, Astroglide or any other lube in the sex section of the store.  They all kill sperm - not 100% but enough that it will make it harder to get your BFP.  Saliva also kills sperm, as an FYI :)

If you want to go the commercial route, use Preseed.  If you prefer the home remedy route, I have heard of olive oil before (and a few other oils) and I used egg whites (as recommended by TCOYF and many other sources) as I make no egg white cervical mucus due to cryotherapy in 2000.

In your case if you need just a lube (and not a replacement for fertile cervical mucus) I would definitely go with Preseed as it can work as a CM replacement too.

My old GYN used to be a fertility dr and when I was TTC she suggested using Vegetable Oil. lol

Olive oil I would be leary of...but pre-seed is perfectly fine, as are egg whites (and egg whites most naturally like the cervical mucuous during your fertile phase).
