Multiples after WLS

I know that women tend to become extreemly fertile after WLS (some, not all). I was wondering if there were any stats on multiples after WLS?

I had my first OB appt. last week. She felt it was too early to do an u/s (6weeks) but she did mention that my uterus felt larger than 6 weeks. What are the odds there are 2 in there?

I'm not sure if there are any published statistics. I had twins after WLS, but my Dr. did do an ultrasound at six weeks and that's when we saw both of them. All of my symptoms were exaggerated though, and my pants didn't fit before I could even test. It could also be that your dates are a little off too- sometimes implantation happens quicker than others, so that could put you a little ahead too. And, genetics have a lot to do with uterus size too- both yours and your new little bean's. Well, whatever the outcome, I wish you a healthy pregnancy!

Thanks Carrie! I'm pretty sure about my dates and I did have some implantation spotting exactly 6 days after ovulation. I think it's possible that there could be two in there, but we won't know for sure until Tuesday when I get my u/s. I will say though this is my 2nd, so I could be a little larger for that reason. I wasn't sure if multiples tend to occur in women that have had WLS. I'm excited to find out what's going on on Tuesday.

thats what happened to me... I was 6w and my doc was feeling around and said "Send her for an U/S" to the nurse... So I made an appt. right away and yet twins it was...lol  Not sure if mine were because of WLS because twins run on my mom and my dads side of the family...

I am about 3yrs post rny... I became pregnant this time last year that resulted in a m/c... About 5-6mths later I became pregnant again, I had my first ultrasound at 9wks and to my surprise it was TWINS!!! I am now 32wks with boy/girl twins and very excited

Just an update for anyone still checking.... it is twins! I'm now due 2/27/2012

Congrats!!! I would like to think I'm a bit of a twin expert, since I am one. But, I'm sure I know nothing about raising them. All the same, my DH and I hope to be following in your footsteps a few years from now. Good luck!
