Nursery rant....ish...

Ok so I keep trying to get the nursery organized but there's so much stuff and so little room! I know that eventually it'll work, but UGH!!!! Every time I walk in there, I'm immediately overwhelmed! We got a baby bathtub (free from a parent at work) and it's huge. Our bathroom is small and our tub is used every day by us! Where on earth do we keep this thing??? I told DW that we need to get our luggage and "nice" clothes out of her closet, but she doesn't see it! She just keeps saying "she's a baby, she doesn't need that space". Oh well, 33 week appointment tomorrow morning! Soooooo ready to crash! Good night!

I organized for almost my entire 9 months, changing things around and rewashing clothes constantly.  Once baby was here all that went out the window lol.......  You will figure out, then figure it out again and again and again.......  Have fun with it.

My son is 4 months old and he's never slept in his nursery. He still sleeps with us, or in a pack n play in our room.
Your daughter won't care what her room looks like. She'll be happy whereever she is as long as she's snuggled with mama and dada.

Oh and ditch the baby bath tub and buy a baby bath sling ($5 at walmart)- you can use it in the sink or the tub. It's much easier to store in a small bathroom. Those baby tubs are a pain in tha a$$. lol

There will be absolutely no baby snuggling in our bed! There are already 3 dogs and 2 people in it! It's a waterbed and being an infant teacher, I know that sleeping in their own bed is best for those that take care of them while we're at work! Both of her mama's have to work for her to have a place to live! :)

LMAO at your DW saying a baby doesn't need all that space.  Their stuff takes up a TON of space.

But really, we keep the tub in the closet, although we hardly use it because we co-shower, but it's good for like, Oooh say a one year old that had WAY too much fun with her cake lol.  You will figure out where to put all her stuff! and all the stuff you will be getting from others!

With Bella we had her room decorated and ready at 24 weeks b/c Craig had military school till I was 30 weeks and I'm a planner!! With this baby we have moved from MO to IN so she has her own room. As soon as we moved here we did Bella's room. But with this baby I am tired and worn out. So she has a crib, dresser, changing station, and rocker glider to be nursed on. Some days I feel really bad b/c it's not girly painted and bordered like Bella's but the basics are there. So don't worry about the little stuff. Diapers, onesies, some clothes, and a bed is all a baby really needs.

Baby bathtubs for me were all returned. I bathed my baby's in the sink. It's so convienient cause you don't have to bend over or kneel down (depending on where you put the bathtub), there's no storage issues, no water to drain. I did the sink with both my kids. I just bought a big foam piece for them to sit on and it supports the head for newborns, it's perfect.

You'll probably get a sudden urge to fini**** up in a few weeks.  I didn't have the nursery ready until a couple weeks before Ruby was born.  All of a sudden I just HAD to fini****  I washed all her clothes and put them away and got everything decorated and organized over the course of a weekend.

We too had that closet filled with other stuff.  I just piled it all up in the loft outside the baby's room and told DH he needed to find another place for it or it was going to stay there.  He got it put away before the baby arrived.

Lorelai has slept in her room from about 3 weeks old. She did not like sleeping in the pack & play in our room and we'd made the decision that we were not going to have her sleep with us for safety reasons. Now, we snuggle before bed for a minute, then she reaches for her crib. She isn't dependant on Mommy & Daddy to go to sleep. Not an easy thing to do with a baby, but I think it's good for her and us.

So about the nursery...I agree that you will want to get your stuff out of her closet. My daughter's closet is full of her own stuff. She has a pretty small room, so her dresser is also in her closet. If for no other reason, you'll feel better about having the baby's room completed and it will be one less thing you have to stress about. So, does your baby need their room to be perfect & beautiful? No, they couldn't care less, but you need for it to be functional, and taking care of that before baby comes will be immensly satisfying and relaxing to you.

Just my 2 cents...

Good luck at your appointment!
