Has anyone done IVF after WLS?

I am curious about this since we may have to do IVF in the near future. I am only a year out but due to multiple factors my docs have given me the green light for IVF. Have any of you gone through IVF after your WLS and if so what were your outcomes? I am really excited but kinda nervous since most of the stories here are of people getting pregnant early from WLS or people who got a BFP without really needing outside help. Any help or words of wisdom would be a great help. Thank you ladies!!

There are a handful on the board that have and they may chime in.

I am in the midst of my second IVF cycle right now.  I transferred three beautiful embies on Monday!

And yes, most ladies on here don't need help...but there are some of us that just have issues that don't allow for natural occuring pregnancies.  Such is life, huh?

Thanks for the reply, hopefully some other people will chime in and let me know how their experience was with the process as a WLS patient. I'm just trying to get information on whether anyone had a different experience because they had WLS. Can I ask how old you are and have you ever been pregnant? I have not and I'm still in my early thirty's, but we have done numerous IUI's and other medicated cycles before I had WLS.

I don't believe the experience is any different for WLS'ers.  Not that I could tell, anyways.

I am going to be 37 in November, and have been pregnant 6 times.  2 natural, 3 from IUIs, and 1 from my first IVF.  None stuck (obviously).  So we keep trying different stuff.

Them not sticking has nothing to do with WLS either.  My body is just a snotty ***** sometimes;)

Hello EstherStar!

I'm a lurker on the boards so I'm actually surprised I am responding but feel its important as you have a dream and it CAN come true.  I had dreamt of being a mom for a loooong time, I will finally get to experience this when I deliver three weeks from today.

I went through six rounds of artificial insemination about ten years ago without success.  I had WLS November of 2003.  About a year and a half ago I tried again with two rounds of Artificial, once that wasn't a success I finally chose to go for IVF.  I did end up changing to a doctors office that was closer to home.   We did a fresh transfer of two embryos and BOTH took!  Although baby B passed at 6w3d, we are happy to get the chance to welcome one of the embryos into this world.

My fingers are crossed for you.  The experience of the procedure alone to me is a really neat thing.  The doctor even gave a picture of the embryos in my uterus right after both were implanted.  I can't wait to explain to my son that one of those little beans is him.

Keep your head up.  If you ever feel you need to chat, don't hesitate to PM me.

Congrats Cathy on your successful IVF!! We have good sperm count, motility so it's probably an issue of my weight when we did the previous treatments a few years back. how long after your WLS did you start IVF treatment? Thank you again for all the help!
