Non-pregnancy missing period
Okay, so today I am 32 days late on my period and I know I am definitely not pregnant. I am 4.5 months post-op and had 3 normal periods after my surgery and now this. Has anyone else experienced this? I"m not under any stress that's out of the ordinary and I feel fine. Any ideas why this may be happening?
Have you taken a hpt to confirm you are not pregnant? Also, with losing the weight so fast our cycles can mess around as well. We are very fertile with this type of surgery and with rny we do not absorb the pill and pregnancies do happen. Take a test (if you already haven't) to really make sure. Good Luck!!!
Sherry-Lynn, just noticed you had Dr. Schram and are from Canada.....he was my surgeon too! What brought you to him?
Regarding this post......how do you know for sure your NOT pregnant? It's very easy to get pregnant after having the surgery and need to use extra protection....unless of course you haven't been sexually active at all since your surgery....if you have, there is a chance you could be pregnant. Also, like the other poster said, sometimes our bodies just need time to adjust to the huge changes our bodies are going through after surgery!

after surgery the first 2mos were "normal" come about the 3rdmonth on they got weired..had one every 15days. so i went on a low dose of bc to get em back on track and it works.
If you lose a remendous amount of weight, or even gain alot fast in either situation, you can have a whacked out period. Just like bulimia/anorexic patients. if you are under stress, that will massively cause you to delay out. I didnt have my period for 3mos. freaked out at first but was ok with the fact that if i was pregnant, oh well!
so, YES to your questions. Let your dr know just so they can run test JUST to make sure your vitamins etc are up to where they need to be. if any of them are low, it could be enough to make you not get your period.
Please keep us posted, what has happened to you, someone else may to and your experience can help out quite a bit.

Definitely not pregnant as I have not been sexually active. I just got word from my hematologist that my vitamin D level is extremely low and I need to take prescription strength vitamin D for 3 months, so I will be calling my PCP tomorrow to have some more blood work done since I don't see my surgeon for another 2 months. Hopefully it is just a matter of getting my vitamin levels back in order!
Thanks for the responses!

Yeah... the vitamin levels being a little off could contribute to missing ur AF. Biggest reason here... u recently had RNY and ur dropping weight probably rather quickly (assumption being made here... but anyway...)
Many women's cycles go a bit wacky once we start drastically losing weight. It should normalize out. But it's not healthy to not have a period in over a month. You might want to call ur GYN to discuss it. Let ur GYN make the call as to how to proceed. She/he might suggest just waiting it out another month or may put you on provera to induce the period and help you get back on track w/ur cycles.
Good luck to you & congrats on ur RNY. Keep up the great work, girl!
