I've asked this before...
I eat them occasionally, mostly because I forget not to. With my first baby I thought that was one of the more bogus "rules" but then there was a huge recall of lunch meat due to listeria, after that I took it much more seriously. I just hate trying to figure out what to have for lunch when you "can't" eat lunch meat, tuna, or pretty much anything easy and "lunchy"! Ugh! Friday my husband wanted to go out for steaks for our anniversary and I just had to drool over his because I would never bother paying for a well done steak at a resaurant, kinda kills all the yumminess!
If you do as Liz suggested and have the deli slice it fresh for you - but have them wash the slicer for you first. They may grumble and roll their eyes, but they'll do it. When I'm in the states, I do it for totally different reasons...I don't eat pork so have them clean the slicer before slicing my meat...so they'd do it for you being pg. Also - if you don't want your deli meat warm...nuke it the night before and put it back in the fridge in a fresh bag...but who can resist a hot corned beef sandwich?! Hell...forget the bread...just give me the corned beef and some mustard and pickles!!
