I've asked this before...
But I will ask again. Who eats cold cuts while preggo and who doesn't? I didn't eat anything on the "off limits" list with Sage. I really think the whole cold cut thing is blown out of proportion. IMO. I love my turkey and cheese but of course I am stopping eating it without a doubt.
But just curious, anyone every know anyone personally that has had their baby die from listeria (sp)? I feel like it's a bunch of hype.

I ate orgnic, nitrate-free cold-cut turkey with my 2nd baby... but I blasted it in the microwave for a few seconds first (apparently, it kills the listeria... but who wants to eat hot 'cold'-cuts??).... I was a mega-rule-follower with my first pregnancy (I had a million and one things I wouldn't eat/drink/touch/do....I wouldn't even eat chocolate because there were traces of caffeine! Can you say OCD?!) But I was much more laid-back with baby #2, even allowing myself the aforementioned turkey, a cup of coffee each morning, some feta cheese (a SOFT cheese?! gasp!) and nitrate-free hotdogs. And, guess what, both babies were 100% healthy :)
I love my DS!

I have, mainly because I forget! lol Like bites from someone's sammy or the occasional sub. In Canada Listeria is no joke, there have been several outbreaks, so when I'm at home (I'm in the U.S. on and off all summer) I'm far more careful.

I ate cold cuts with my son. He was fine. Did I eat them daily.. nope, once in awhile.. but I like grilled sandwiches anyway. More like melts. mmmmm
I heard from a couple doctors that hot dogs are ok as long as they are cooked. Limit cold cuts or heat them in more like hot sandwiches instead of cold. (then the whole limit fish to twice a week thing is out there as well).

I ate lunch meats all throughout my pregnancy and never had any issues. I was hooked on ham, egg and cheese sandwiches, but I did cook the eggs and melt the cheese and the ham on top of the egg, so it was mostly always heated. And I craved these sandwiches EVERY single day so it was my daily breakfast. I never tried to think to much about it to be honest..IMO I don't quite buy the hype either...and my doctor never really said too much about it either.
