Bad Dr, Appt for baby Ryan today

Hi everyone,

Hope you are all doing good.

Had Ryan's 1 month Dr.'s appt today and the Dr. is concerned with the size of his tummy.  Says its bigger then they like.  We have to monitor it for the next few days and if it gets bigger we will need to do crays to see what is going on.

Has anyone had this happen to their little one? If so, what was the cause and outcome?

Also, he had a shot and I will NEVER forget the look on his face and the cry.  I felt SO bad.  I don't think I will ever get that vision out of my head.  It was horrible. I will not be doing that again; someone else will have to take him for any more shots he gets.............

Looking forward to getting any information about Ryan's large tummy.  As always, thanks for all your help.

One of my best friends went through something similar when her baby was about a month old.  She took him in for some eye goop and next thing she knew they were sending her to the hospital for him to have all kinds of testing on his belly.  They really put the poor little guy (and his parents) through the ringer with all kinds of crazy tests.  In the end, he was diagnosed with gas.  He was fine and has had no problems ever since (he is almost 3 now).  Good luck!  I know how scary it is when we think something could be wrong with our precious little ones, I'm sure he will be fine though!

Did they say what about his enlarged tummy was the concern? Fluid? Large organs? Is his tummy soft to the touch or hard? It could be like Paula suggested and just be gas. Did they confirm that his diet is working out for him by asking about how long he nurses and how many dirty diapers? Sorry for so many questions.

Sending lots of healthy wishes your way. I am sure Ryan is just being a normal newborn and finding more ways to worry mommy. As if the normal stuff isnt enough. Keep us updated!

Oh and Liam is trying to be troublesome as well. Had to get eyedrops from him already as it seems he has an eye infection! Our little boys are going to be trouble. Can already tell.

Hey you,

You know I didn't even ask what the problem could be or maybe I did and she ignored me knowing I would come home and google the **** out of it and worry myself even more.  His tummy switches between hard and soft which I think is normal. Soft when he is relaxed and hard when he is crying or stretching.  They did not seem to think it was anything with his diet.  He gained almost 2 lbs in 2 weeks.  He is now 7.13 lbs.  I supplement BF with formula and they did not go into detailed questions about his diet.  Perhaps this is something I will have to watch myself.  I will definitely keep you updated.

I am sorry about Liam's eye infection.... Hoping it gets better quick.  Keep me updated as well.

Take Care

Yeah his tummy sounds normal as far as hard and soft is concerned. 2lbs is awesome!! I couldn't believe Liam gained a lb as well. He is my big boy at 7lbs 8oz. LOL.  As for his diet you can jus****ch that he has 8-10 wet diapers and has a few BM's. But if the Dr wasn't concerned maybe they can already tell by his weight gain there is no problem there. No going crazy googling things! If they sent you home without any bigger tests then it most likely isn't anything major.

That's what I've been told.  Wish someone would have warned me about his reaction to the shots as well

I hope everything is ok with him.
I cried too when my baby got her first shots.
