WOW what a suprise

So i found out today that im pregnant. I wasnt trying and wasnt expecting it. I had my surgery june 29th 2010. I was told to wait 2 years before having a child. Im really not sure what to expect this being my first and how my VSG will make a difference or not.  I guess i should go buy a few books about it huh?

First, congrats! Second, don't bother with the books cus I've found there aren't many out there that really are about us WLS patients. However, you are in a very good place to get lots of questions answered. I know there are quite a few VSG girls on here that are always helpful and you can always ready thru previous posts as well. You will be ok though, so ask away and again...congrats! :)

Congrats and relax!  You'll do just fine!  I had surgery (VSG) in August and got pregnant just after 6 months out.  So, I'm 18 weeks and doing fine.  I just had my ultrasound today and everything looked great.  Since we don't have any malabsorbtion we don't have to worry so much about timing post-op with getting pregnant.  The first thing you need to do is make sure you're eating carbs, ketosis is really dangerous when you're pregnant.  Second, make sure you're taking all of your vites.  Otherwise, just make your regular apointments and take some time to enjoy.  My OB does not have any sleeve related concerns for my pregnancy and I'm gaining weight just fine.  My surgeons office was also really supportive and didn't have any concerns either.  Good luck!

I didn't have VSG, I had the RNY but just want to say hello, congratulations and welcome to the board.
Just tell your surgeon, OB and keep them all in the loop - you'll do just fine

First off Congrats!! I was neither trying nor expecting either! I will be 2 years out from RNY in August and my daughter is 13! So not really sure how it happend (besides the obvious!)  You are in a good place here I have always had luck when I needed help or just needed support! Congratulations again!

I had a surprise pregnancy 9 mo post op. My pregnancy was super easy and I didn't require any extra vitamins, just a prenatal, to keep my levels perfect.
I gained 17 lbs and had a BIG healthy 8.8lb 22in baby boy 3 months ago.

Congrats on ur little surprise and hello... 110 lbs in less than a year?  Fantastic!  Nothing else to add from what the other girls said.  Just welcome to our forum and good luck!

Welcome and congrats!  I hope the rest of your pregnancy is happy and healthy.  Don't be a stranger...the women here can answer almost any question you can come up with....not to mention support you won't be able to match anywhere else.

Im new here too. well a wk or 2 ago, LOL, congrats on the baby. These ladies have helped me calm down alot. I had to stop watching the scale and enjoy. 18 wks and 2 days preggers today. Yey and she is moving around in there to let me know she is good. I am happy to find this board.
