Mucous plug question
I started to loose my mucus plug around 34 weeks, AND YES!!! Sex does cause pieces of it to come apart and out, but it will regenerate. I finally loss my whole mucus plug the morning my water broke. My water broke as I ran to the bathroom and when I wiped I looked down and my mucus plug was all over the toilet paper with light colored blood in it. I wouldn't be concerned unless you have blood with it (your bloody show). Your only 34 weeks and you can loose parts of your mucus plug a few times before you go into labor until then. There are women who loose their plug and still don't go into labor for weeks. I don't recommend it at your point now but when you do get to full term I recommend walking and sex if you haven't gone into labor yet. Also sitting and rocking on a birthing ball did it for me. Good luck, you are so close!
The mucus plug is an interesting topic. You can ask thirty women about it, and get thirty different opinions. From the research I have done personally, it doesn't seem that losing the plug has any direct corilation on when active labor will begin. I mean, there are women who will go into active labor the same day, and then women who lose it and go another five weeks. I never knew I lost it with either one until I was checked, and with this baby, I lost it about three weeks ago. I do believe that sex can make it thin and cause you to lose it as sperm has a hormone in it meant to soften the cervix and help ripen it for labor.
Even the bloody show of losing the whole plug doesn't mean it will happen right away. I had my bloody show about a week before my induction. I did have an increase in ctx after I lost it though. Just nothing worth going to L&D over.
