Anatomy Scan and 20 week visit.....
Had my anatomy scan bright and early this morning. My husband made sure I had some carbs to make sure the baby was wide awake. The perinatologist said the baby had all of its limbs and body parts. Quad screen show neural tube defects are less than 1:5000, which was great. The baby is currently in the breech position and my placenta is anterior. The baby measured a little small, so I have to go back in 6 weeks for a growth scan.
.....Did I forget anything?....Hmm.....Oh yeah....It's a GIRL! We weren't rooting either way, but happy to know that we can start calling her by her name.
My 20 week exam was great. Uterus is measuring at the right size and her heart rate was 147. She was still was fiesty 8 hours later! She was squirming the entire time the doctor was trying to measure and hear her heart beat.
Crossing my fingers for a great ride the next 4 weeks!!!

This is my 1st and probably only biological baby I will have. I think we just decided today to adopt child # 2 when my husband gets out of school in 3 years. We may try again to have another baby, but I'll be at least 37 before we would. DH is younger and wants to put a few years between the kids and I agree.
If it's your age that would be the only thing holding you back from having another biological child, I would think twice! I was 34 turning 35 with my last pregnancy and had a great pregnancy and child birth. I just turned 38 when I got pregnant with this baby and besides the spotting at 15 weeks and bleeding at 17 weeks, things are going good. Both the spotting and bleeding issue have NOTHING to do with my age! In fact, it's just a freak thing this happened to me....a tear in the placenta is usually caused by trama, drug abuse or physical abuse....none of which apply to me. Also, there are many other woman in my age catergory having babies and some even into their 40's that have no problems! Of course, you could have other reasons besides age on why you want to adobt and I think adobtion is a GREAT thing! I'm just saying, don't let the age be the only reason why you would decide to go that route!
