Pica
Has anyone had or been diagnosed with this? If you dont know what it is, its a craving for non-food items. Ice is also considered. It is very common or so I am told in pregnancy. I was told I have this but my OB is also saying that it is due to my band. I dont think so as I have craved ice uncontrollably for a few months now and the non-food came within the last week and a half. Just wondering. Thanks for responses in advance!
This is embarrasing to admit, but I have been craving the smell of petroleum based products. New shoes, new carpet, the gas station, ect. I do not go out of my way to do it but if I am in the shoe section or home depot or something I have to fight myself from deeply inhaling the fumes. I have heard of this before...as long as you are not eating anything dangerous. I am expecting it will go away after I have the baby.
It is embarrassing to admit. It was hard as hell to even tell my OB. I have to have ice daily. I have left work to go get it or bring a bag to work just to eat it. The weird one has been a mop and rag but just to have them in my mouth. Its almost like having an oral fixation. I have no desire to swallow it whatsoever, just suck on it and spit it out. It completely freaks my husband out! On Sunday it started with Gain laundry detergent. Didnt want to taste it, just overly loved the smell of it and then the wet clothes once washed in it. The "cravings" come and go and seem to be triggered by various smells but nothing in particular. I dont go out of my way either to go get anything except ice but have tasted the brand new mop and rag twice so far. Maybe its the new smell that does it. I am pretty confident that it will go away once I give birth. My aun
Hi
Yep I have had it with my 3 boys. I craved ice and the smell of fuel. With my girls nothing. I always knew what I was having based on this. I would eat/crunch my through 8lbs of ice every 2 days. I told the MWs and OB about the fuel and they said aslong as I wasn't drinking it and I wasn't sitting around all day sniffing fuel it was fine. They said I was lacking in a mineral and my body was looking for it.
Once I had them it just went away.
Best wishes
