Hi, I am new to here.  I am 4 months out of RNY today and down 55 lbs!  Yeah!  Before surgery I had not had a period on my own for probably about 10 years.  I have pcos and insulin resistance.  I did go through fertility treatments before wls.  I did clomid 2x, injections 1x, and injections with artifical insimination 3x.  I had one pregnancy which sadly ended about 6 weeks after it started.  I was wondering if anyone had similar issues before and had successful pregnancys without the use of fertility treatments after.  Just trying to see what my options might be.  I know everyone is different but looking to see what might happen.

Many ladies here get pregnant naturally, even after having previous children with fertility meds. Thebig  weight loss alone is a boost to your fertility. Just be sure you are taking all your vites and extra folic acid so when you are TTC, you will be healthy.
Please be careful and use reliable birth control though. If you had RNY, it is possible to malabsorb birth control pills and they wont work as well. I had a copper IUD until I started TTC.

I did not know it at the time, but I had PCOS and was going to start trying to get pg. Wedding night, bam!!! Pregnant, no issues, other than preclampsia and gestational diabetes. At that time I weighed 250. My hubby and I tried for about 5 years to have another and finally sought a fertility specialist. After dumping many thousands of dollars, we were told I had secondary infertility and would not likely ever get pregnant. I was so shocked. They did tell me that I would benefit from some weight loss, and all that jazz, but after losing and gaining and the emotional rollercoaster, I just gave up. March 10th, I was blessed with the RNY and began my weight loss journey. SInce I had been told that I would not likely ever be pregnant, I really never thought about it again. At 7 months out and down 120 lbs, I thought I had the stomach flu!!! Now 9 months later, I am ready to pop with my second child!! I was soo surprised when the test came back positive and that it actually stayed. I did not have to do anything, but lose weight. (which I had, but it clearly was never enough) ... I have had no issues what so ever and hope to maybe try again in a year or so.. Although I am sooo very happy to be finally having my second child, I would have never dreamed it would be 8 years later and I would almost be 40 years old. I say let nature takes its course. I mean, be healthy and have your Dr's ok, (which I didn't) but have been lucky... I wish you the best of luck and hope that your story ends in success like mine....

Pre WLS I had miscarriage and went through IVF for my son Austin.  I have PCOS and pre RNY ovulated maybe three times a year.  Now 20 months out from RNY.  My husband and I started 'trying' for another one naturally in February.  Three months from the start of us trying I am now 8 weeks pregnant and all is looking well.

Hope that helps.  :-)
