When to start Potty Training?

Hi Ladies,

My baby girl is almost 15 months.  When did you start potty training and how do you recommend doing it?  I have to say that I cringe everytime I think about having to take my baby girl into a dirty public bathroom, but I know that she can't stay in diapers forever.

I used the "3-day method" with my twins. They were potty trained over a long weekend at 18 months old.

As far as public restrooms go- I use a folding potty seat for them that fits over the tiolet seat. I store it in a plastic gorcery bag in my diaper bag and it's super easy to sanitize.

Thanks for the feedback.  Someone else told me about the folding potty seat too.  We will definitely be getting one of those.

My boy did not even think about potty triaining till he was 3 1/2.  we tried at 2, 2.5, 3  etc but he just was not interested.

If your little one is staying mostly dry at night I'd say start now.  But just don't force them.  Use encouragement.  Have them come in with you to the bathroom.  Watch their cycles and see how many times you can get them on the potty just as they are going to go.  PRAISE THEM GIVE THEM LITTLE TOYS anything to make them see how special and cool it is.  Pee Pee in the Potty songs are cool.  :-) 

My youngest officially potty trained last week (we started on Saturday morning)....he's been accident free from almost 4 days now .  He turns three in July.....with my other two kids...they were both about 2.5 years old.

Thanks for the feedback.  I am not going to rush my babygirl, even though her Grandma keeps telling me how she had both of her girls potty trained at 15 months.  My baby girl definitely doesn't seem ready for the potty.
