Just wondering if anyone has done research on breastfeeding after RNY.  Does our bodies give our baby enough nutrients with the amount we absorb after surgery?

In my experience, Claudia was getting enough nutrients...however, since I was so early out (18 months when she was born) i was still not eating enough to produce milk like i needed to.  With this baby, I am going to try again, HOPEFULLY it will be successful.

I have a DS, not RNY, but my son is growing adequately on breastmilk alone (and a few tastes of complementary foods.)  He is slimmer than his older, pre-DS sister was at his age, but he's taller too.  He's following his growth curve.

I have encountered some post-op moms who've struggled with supply.  Quality should be fine provided you take your vites and eat decently, but remember it's recommended to give a vitamin D supplement to exclusively breastfed babies.  I use Carlson's D drops for my son.

I had my RNY four years ago but my baby is EBF and he will be 6 months old in a couple of weeks. He is a little chunker almost 18lbs. I have never had any problems with my milk supply.

I have been EBFing for 4 months now and my little man is doing just fine! He has baby rolls so I think something is working
