Will It Return To Normal?
Will my pouch really return to normal after I have my baby? I am so worried that I have ruined my pouch by eating more than normal and I feel like a failure for eating everything I said I wouldn't during this pregnancy and gaining more than 50 frickin pounds!!! I feel like I don't even remember how to eat the RNY way anymore and I'm terrified of not being able to get back to where I was weight wise, after Austin arrives...I really need some encouragement ladies!!!
Not sure about RNY, but my VSG tummy shrank back to "normal" after my baby was born.
While I was pregnant I could eat WAY more than before, but within a week of delivering my son, I had all the restriction back.
Do you plan to breastfeed? I don't worry about sticking to a "diet" since I need a TON of calories to keep from loosing weight/keeping a high milk supply, but I do still try to eat protein first, no refined carbs, etc. Even then, I'm still loosing 1-2 lbs a weeks and was back to my pre pregnancy weight within 2 weeks of delivery.
You can do it! Once Austin is here, you can get a jogging stroller and walk those stubborn pregnancy pounds right off!

Thanks for replying and giving me some encouragement..I sure need it..I definitely plan on exclusively breastfeeding so hopefully that will help and I definitely want to get back into running/jogging once I'm healed from my c-section....I don't know why I feel like such a failure, I guess it's because the scale now reads over 200 lbs and I started out at 150...I think I WAY overdid the eating/carbs this pregnancy and I am upset with only myself for that...I knew better :-(
I didnt gain during, i did afterwards. Not just a little alot. I feel like I failed myself. Its like my body has gone into overdrive of "you starved me during the pregnancy and now im making up for it". My bari Dr has reassured me that with the strict diet of before, and getting out and being mobile since we no longer have to worry about snow and cold...that once again i can get my weight off.
Caley... I can totally understand where you're coming from. I vowed to NEVER go over 200 lbs again. now I'm 177 and there's a possibility... a very real possibility that I will go over 200 during my pregnancy. That being said, try to remember that when we are pregnant, the hormones that fly around our bodies do stretch our pouches a little to allow us to eat more so that we can sustain not only ourselves but our growing babies. After birth, that hormone goes away and our pouches go back to normal. I see it all the time and I know I'll be freaked out a bit when I get there too.

I haven't had my baby yet, but I have read a lot on post partum RNY patients, and the clear majority say that their restriction returns. You have us as encouragement and we are here all the way for you - you can do it!!!
(ps I posted my bump pics a while back - for you !!!! and didn't see that you'd commented on them- hadn't seen you on the boards).
You are going to be just great, 20lbs gone in hospital and the rest will melt away,
