So after weeks of pains in my left side off and on, I was told I must have pulled a stomach musscle, I believed my doc. I didnt think it was my gallbladder at all because I know thats on the right side. I just delt with the pain off and on for the past few weeks. This past Sunday I woke up at 5am with really bad back pain. Put a heating pack on it and tried to get comfy...it eventually went away. Later that night I got tons more back pain plus the right side of the  upper belly sharp pain and sick to stomach right at the beginning of me trying to eat dinner... I told my husband to get his sister here to watch my kids I needed to go to the ER it was my gallbladder... I went to the closest hospital and they got me pain meds asap... and then ultrasounds of all my major organs... I knew it was my gallbladder and it was... turns out I have huge gallstones in there and lots and lots of them... I was shipped to my hospital where I will deliever the baby also where I had my bypass surgery. They checked the baby, all is well... My OB and My bypass surgoen tossed me having surgery Monday or not. With me being in my 28th week they didnt want to... I am happy cuz I dont want to go under while being pregnant. But I have to put up with these smaller attacks, and if I get a fever or a larger attack I have to go to the hospital asap. OB wants me to hang in there until july when I will be 36w he's talking another section and then the gallbladder laproscopically.  I have my mother and sister driving to western NY from TX to help me with my kids and keep my stress under control. My question is, I am trying to find high protein foods low in fat and no dairy... They don't want me having dairy. I don;t eat a lot of fatty greasy foods but I eat cheese and drink milk to help with my protein intake. Veggies and fruits are a givin I already eat them all the time anyways... I just dont want another attack, but I have to keep my bypass diet going as well. Anyone with advice it would be great... Sorry for the novel!

Hey Chrissy,

So sorry you're having gb issues.  My wife just had her gb removed a couple months back.  I know how not fun that can be.  And add to that the stress of your pregnancy.  I'm glad your mother and sister are on their way out to help you with the kids and help you relax some.

Here's a great protein shake that you can mix with either water or milk.  I mix it with water myself.  They are truly yummy!  Lots of great flavors and you can order 2 sample packs for $3 incl shipping/handling.

Good luck!

Be sure to avoid spicy foods, also.  They can trigger attacks.  Even if you don't normally eat a lot of fatty/greasy foods...try to avoid them like the plague right now to hold down the severity/frequency of attacks.

Obviously I've no way of knowing if any of the suggestions here work (had my gb out when my son was 6 weeks old, 16 years ago!), but look online for information regarding apple cider vinegar mixed w/water or apple juice to help w/gb problems.  Please ask your dr if it's OK b/c you're pg! - and if he says it's OK, try it to see if it works.  A friend of mine - who's terrified of surgery due to previous anesthesia complications - has gb problems and refuses to have surgery for it...so she uses apple cider vinegar on a regular basis and it works well for her.

Good luck.  I know the pain from gallbladder attacks and wouldn't wi**** on anyone, let alone someone pg who is trying to avoid surgery b/c of it.

I had my gallbladder out at 28 weeks pregnant with Hayvann. I had an attack but it never let up. I went in on a Wednesday and the pain was so bad they kept me on meds for days. When they realized it was getting worse not better the surgeons were trying to not do it and the OB said get it out, That Monday they removed it with open sugery. They had to have operating room set up for delivery also which was so scary as they rolled me in there. I did go into labor after surgery and they had to stop that. Everything went well though. I would not suggest getting while pregnant for sure. It was worse getting around and my scar is about 4-5 inches long and while I was pregnant and still growing i felt like my incision site would pop open. I stayed on bland foods as long as I could :)

Oh see, thats why I didnt want it... they gave me pain meds 2 times and then I must have passed the stone they said, cuz I was o****ep getting little pains here and there still but I am dealing with them. They said if I have another bad attack or a fever breaks I have to get to the ER asap... I am afraid to eat to tell ya the truth, thank you for sharing your experience with me... it's pretty much what my OB said would happen... I am also happy that the baby is still so active all the time, make me know she is doing alright.
