Hi

I don't understand it personally why can't they just say "my child is a  boy/girl" weird to me.

I have a 15yr old boy who when he was little went through a faze where he would put make on while we were at the shops and wore my BFF daughters really pink lacey dress. I didn't mind it was something he wanted to do.  If I remember is lasted for about 2 weeks and what he liked was when he spun the dress twirled out. He is now in Army cadets and wants a life in the Army. I have another son who is 3 and has purple painted toe nails. He saw me doing it and he sat down and asked. I think let them do their own thing and what they grow up to be will be, they are my sons and my daughter ( soon to be daughters) and I will love them no matter what.

Best wishes

The article talks about how one of the older boys just went through a crisis over his gender. Well no shi&! His parents have him completely confused. Poor kids. I'm guessing that Storm is another boy and mom really wanted a girl. I'm in a mood today, can you tell? :)

LMAO I think he is a boy.

And yea there is a point in there where they said "most people assume the older two are girls and it's up to them (the kids) to correct people if they want to" UMmmmm why is it up to the kids to correct their gender.  Something like that should not be put on a 5 and 2 year old...

I'm not one to shove gender roles down my kid's throat, but I am the parent, and with that comes a responsibility to provide a mentally and emotionally stable environment for growth and development. These parents are shoving a little social experiment off on their kids, and their children are suffering the consequences.

Even at the ripe age of almost 13 years old, I still buy my son's clothing. He wears what I buy no questions asked. I raised a jock of a child because that's what he has chosen. He's athletic, lifts weights, is fit and active in male-dominant sports. He wants to give band a try this next year along with art classes. Far be it from me to tell him no, and make him take gym, and a technology based courses instead of art and band. If he chooses to take ballet, I'll support it. I expose him to all facets of life, and ultimately it is his choice. However, I can't see the benefit in allowing him to just pick and choose what he wants, when he wants it. Children need guidance, and I believe that's my responsibility as a parent. Shoving off clarifying or correcting a child's gender to a 5 yr old is absolutely absurd.

I can't even imagine the identity issues these poor kids are going to have growing up. My oldest nephew liked to play with barbies and paint his nails when he was little just as much as he liked to play with cars and basketballs and he's 17 now and very much a boy. Letting kids be who they are is important but I think these parents are choosing for their children and saying they are giving the children the choice. I grew up with brothers so I was never very girly, I wore guys jeans and tshirts occasionally and it wasn't a big deal. I worry for their kids who will have a lot of social and self esteem issues as they grow up. It's hard enough for kids as they get older and try to figure out their identity, why make it harder for them?
