IUD- Mirena
Hey! Long time no post from me! My kids are now 3 and 1!!! They are growing so fast, it's amazing!
I'm thinking about using an IUD instead of the pill... anyone have any experiences they could share with me? Does the IUD make you gain weight?
Hubby doesn't want any more kids...... I'm on the fence :)
I hope everyone is doing well!!

heh....
My little boy is a "mirena baby". I had my Mirena inserted after my twins were born. 8 months later I concieved my son. Thankfully my OB was able to safely remove my IUD, nearly all pregancies with an IUD in place end in miscarriage.
I know tons of women who LOVE their IUDs (I was one of them until my surprise pregnancy). I actually lost weight with my IUD, had lighter periods, it was great. None of the hormonal side effects like the pill because the hormones stay localized in the uterus instead of circulating through your blood stream like with the pill.
I nearly decided to have another IUD inserted after my son was born (lightening can't strike twice, right?) but chose to have my tubes tied since 3 kids is more than enough for DH and I.

I had mirena 5 years before my son was born and had a new one put in 8 weeks after he was born. I did have a couple of months of spotting with the second one, but that cleared up. No weight gain as far as I could tell, I've been very happy with mine. Like anything else medical, you will find folks who love it and folks who hate it. The best thing to do is discuss the pros and cons with your gyn.
