I understand I am pregnant I will have to gain weight.  I also know that my mind is much harder on me then anyone else, but what is normal weight gain for after RNY and when does it start?  Also how did you deal with it and when did yours start?

My OB says a pound a week is totally normal weight gain for the WLS patients he sees (and he's seen a lot, mostly RNY and Lapband).

I gained 17 lbs total, but didn't start gaining until 22+ weeks. The first 20 wks I actually lost weight.

I'm different than the last 2 posters.  I tend to gain a lot of weight in the beginning....I'm around 17lbs up and I'm just over 17 weeks along.  With my last pregnancy, I gained more in the beginning and then it slowed down towards the middle and then slightly putting on more weight at the end.  I believe I gained around 30-35lbs total with my last pregnancy.  At my 6 weeks check-up I had lost all but 8-10lbs of the pregnancy weight.  You will find that each ladies story is different.  Weight gain is evident, but it can be controlled and it can be lost after the baby is born!  Also, don't be alarmed that you can eat and tolerate more food while pregnant.  Just don't let yourself overindulge and you should be fine!  They say a pregnant woman only needs 200-300 extra calories while pregnant.

I gained most of my weight in the first trimester.. and then again in the 3rd.  all said and done.. I gained 35-40lbs.  Which is actually totally "acceptable" range for someone that was at my BMI.  If you are out of your "honeymoon" phase and waited the appropriate time before conceiving.. you would have the same weight gain as a "normal" woman would.

I gained almost everything AT THE very end and it was mostly fluid and it was a total of 18lbs..I am already back to my prepregnancy weight and I imagine I will drop a few more lbs!! But I was prepared to gain..it killed me to think of it especially as this was a surprise pregnancy and I had JUST gotten my panni removed 2 months prior!!

I have lost 22 lbs total this pregnancy. I am 34 weeks pregnant right now, so this can change. I have only gained in one of my appointments and that weight gain was 5 lbs in 2 weeks. (this was at 32 weeks) went yesterday and lost 2 of those 5 lbs. If I had not gained that 5 lbs would have lost more. I am eatting enough and taking vitamins. Baby is measuring big, so I am not worried.

As the PPs mentioned, everyone is different - every pregnancy is different, for that matter! With my first two years ago, I gained a total of 23 lbs and lost it all in a few months. With baby number two (I'm almost 36 weeks) I have gained a total of 20 so far. I have no doubt that those 20 will go away, too.

I dont remember the exact number (it was almost a year ago..) but i didnt gain over 20 with my daughter, and it was all gone (and then some) by 6 weeks after delivery. I gained it all from 20+ weeks on, about 1/2 lb at a time....but it wasnt consistant until the last few weeks.
