Pregnant?

I am now 14 months post-op from RNY. My LMP was April 5th and I am NEVER late, as I am on BC pills! But I have been reading on this forum that lots of ladies have gotten pregnant post-op while taking BC pills. (Oops.) So I took 3 home pregnancy tests last week, all negative, and even went to my doc for a blood test last Wednesday, also negative... but I am NOT convinced that I am not pregnant.

Something is going on, I just don't feel right. Have been VERY tired, queasier than usual, and here is the TMI: my pee has been NEON yellow. I know that sounds strange, but that was one of the big tells when I was pregnant with my now-4-year-old son. Neon pee. I know that's crazy, but I am paranoid that my brain is playing tricks on me. I am considering taking another home pregnancy test in a few days... I just don't know how long to wait.

Has anyone else had a problem with a false negative on pregnancy tests after weight loss surgery? I wonder if the hormone shift in my body would affect that? Also I had to take Prometrium during my previous pregnancy just to stay pregnant, because I have PCOS and my hormone levels were so low.

Any advice is greatly appreciated! I am a nervous wreck. Either way is fine with me, if it is really negative then we just have more time to wait before we start trying. If it is positive, then YIPPEE! But I just don't like the NOT KNOWING.

False negatives on on the home POAS tests can be possible in that those tests look for a minimum HCG level in the urine.  However, if you had the blood test taken at your doc's and that came out negative... then you're not pg.  The blood tests check for ANY level of HCG in the blood stream.  Neg on the blood test is a true negative.  Sorry!

Some people's hormones are just slower to rise than others.  With my first pregnancy I had symptoms for about 2 weeks but kept getting negative home tests.  I went for a blood test, still negative... figured something MUST be wrong.  A few days later I was so bloated that I had to unbutton my jeans when sitting down and my breasts hurt so bad I was near tears so I took the last test from the box... positive.  Since I had irregular periods my doc sent me for an ultrasound to see how far along I was... 6 weeks.  He was worried that it took so long for me to get a positive test, but everything progressed fine from there.  My daughter is now 2 1/2.  With my current pregnancy I had really regular periods so I knew when I "should" be able to get a positive but again it took me until well over 5 weeks to get even a faint line.  Again, all is well with the pregnancy so far (knock on wood).  Guess it just takes me longer than the norm to get a positive test.  No period is a much stronger indicator than a stick that you've peed on, in my opinion.  Good luck!

Neon yellow pee can be a sign of too much B vitamins as well.

The Dr's test could be neg depending on what type of test he sent off for. If he did a HCG then it is less likely you could be pregnant. But he could have done a screening test which is JUST like a home pregnancy test but it can use blood or urine. HCG is pretty definative but with your history of low hormones I don't want to say impossible.

I would test again making sure you use a test that needs the littlest amt of hormone and I would do first morning or after holding your urine for 4 hours or so to get the best concentration.

OMG! I have been having the SAME things happening (not as late as you, I should have gotten my period last friday) but no signs of my period at all, no leg pain, no cramps (my usual sings), but I have had neon pee, queasy, my boobs feel bigger, but I took a home PT and negative.  I haven't gone to the doc yet, figured I would give it some time.
But I am not on BCPs, so it is entirely possible.

Okay, STILL no period yet. Not even any signs of a period on the way. Still queasy. Still neon pee. (I know it's silly, but it's my history!) My doctor's office did the quick test, so probably exactly the same as the HPT tests I took, and not really an HCG quantitative test. So how long should I wait to pee on another stick, or should I try to go back to the doc for an HCG quantitative test, or just wait it out and see if my period starts next month? This is crazy.

p.s. BTW, thanks for all the posts, it helps to know someone is out there!

So after running around freaking out for a bit, I must report, that there is a faint 2nd line on my first response HPT.  So...I might be pregnant! HOLY CRAP.

Yay! Congrats!

I caved in and bought a 3-pack of HPTs today, since I am so unsure of what is going on with me. I have been exhausted, and it is probably just my mind playing tricks on me, but what if it isn't? So I am going to pee on a stick first thing in the morning tomorrow. What a way to wake up!
