I had to get a small unfill from my lap band about 3 months ago (it was to the point that liquids were hard to get).  At that appt I had lost 10 lbs in about 2 months, she warned me that I would gain weight again because of not being able to get liquids.  Well I did gain weight back, around 5ish lbs.  I was working out but odviously not enough and was slipping up some with my diet.  Well then I got pregnant and I have put on another like 5-8 lbs (I feel really bloated so that might be some of it) but I am so discouraged, I have not been to my surgeon since March and I go back next month for my one year post op appt and I am so nervous.  I know they won't YELL at me for gaining weight but I feel like I am a failure.  I have had NO energy and I REALLY need to get back into working out but once my boys are in bed I am ready to PASS out! I guess I am just worried about what my surgeon will say, I am calling them tomorow to let them know I am pregnant (I did not call them before because of some early scares).  Ok I just needed to vent! THANKS!

How far along are you? I don't have the band but in the beginning the bloating was horrible. I had only gained 4ish lbs but nothing fit! Then that leveled out and suddenly I was still wearing the same clothing at 5-6 months that I couldnt at 2-3.

I highly doubt your surgeon is going to yell or even seem disappointed. I am sure they might even say congrats and get excited!

The mental aspect for us can be hard. You work for months and years to lose this weight then we are suppose to gleeful gain weight back making it feel like all our work is null and void. I swore I was not going to hit 200 ever again.. then midway through the pregnancy I do. I cried. I am consistantly doing a numbers game in my head.. If he weighs this much then I can lose so much by the time I go home.. so then I will only have 10ish lbs to get back to my prepreg wt. It can make us nuts!

We will be here and listen to you vent. Trust us. You are only saying or feeling things we have felt as well.

I am only 8.5 weeks.  I got pregnant only 10 months out from surgery (it was an opps but odviously EXTREMEMLY wanted since one of the top reasons to have this surgery was to get pregnant).  I was not at my goal weight which I am fine with I just did not think I would be gaining weight so early, I gained and lost a total of 10 lbs with my son (the again i was alteast 50 lbs heavier then).

I'm almost 2 years out from RNY and had been at goal and maintaining for 9+ months. I'm 11 weeks today and I've already gained 10 lbs. Yes, TEN! And this is after my surgeon told me I probably wouldn't gain much weight..yeah, he lied! I try to keep in perspective and realize most of it's bloat and probably half of that has gone to my boobs, but it still scares the crap out of me to see how easily those numbers can go up. I just keep reminding myself that my tool will be there once my baby comes, so right now I'm just focusing on eating well. Good luck!
