Baby weights
Hi
This might not be for all but the BTDT mothers that have had a baby before WLS and after was there a difference in your child/childrens birth weight/s?. I was just wondering as I have read 2 little ones lately that were under 5lbs. Now I know the sizes/ weights could just be what size the mums have ( also I don;t know how many weeks they bubs were and that makes a difference), it just had me wondering. My other children were
40weeks: 7lbs 10oz
38weeks: 7lbs 2oz
39weeks: 7lbs 7oz
Bug is measuring behind by nearly 2 weeks.
I was told she is very small, not that I am putting it to my WLS I am 5'2 and DH is 6' so I know the others could take after him and Bug after me.
Many thanks
Crystal

I've had 2 babies pre-op and one baby post-op and pregnant with my 2nd baby post-op. They weights of my babies are this:
Baby#1 born 17 days early was 7lbs 10oz.
Baby#2 born 9 days late was 8lbs 12oz.
Baby#3 born 9 days early was 8lbs 5oz
So not really any size differences for me given the dates they were born. Congrats on your latest pregnancy! Best of luck to you!

I don't post here much but I thought I'd chime in. I have 3 per-op.
#1 36 weeks- 6lb 4oz
#2 35 weeks- 5lb 9oz
#3 40 weeks- 7lb
#4 36 weeks- 5 lb 9oz
I don't really think it has much to do with surgery as it does with genetics. Unless you have complications with your sugery or pregnancy. Good luck and congradulations! By the way, The smallest on I had a lot of problems and was hospitalized at 28 weeks due PTL and polyhydraminos. Made it to 36 weeks with meds and he is a big boy now. He gained VERY quickly once he was born because I did had a lot of eating issues the last month and lost 10 pounds. Could have been my gallbladder or the ulcer I have now.

I haven't had any pre op babies, but thought I'd weigh in a little on this question. According to my research (and my MD, plus a high risk MD I saw earlier on), the baby will get what it needs to grow and the weight loss surgery has little if any effect on growth. I've lost weight during my pregnancy, and my baby is weighing right on target. Although I was an overweight child and adult, I was born at 42 weeks and only weighed 7 lbs 2 oz. My husband was born 2 weeks early and weighed 10 lbs 9 oz.. Life is funny that way! On a side note: My baby measured 11 days behind earlier on in the pregnancy, but caught up.
