Weight gain post pregnancy
I had my beautiful and amazing little boy 7 weeks ago yesterday.
I was given the green light to start working out last week.
But....my problem is that I am starting to gain weight...I had lost all but 10 pounds of my baby weight within 2 weeks of having my little baby. Now I'm gaining. My ankles are swelling, my hands hurt. I know it might be water retention or something...but also my whole body hurts too. I've been chalking that up to working out...but dang, it hurts to even lay in bed or roll over.
Any suggestions??
I didn't anticipate gaining weight...I was hoping to lose. Aghhhhh

You're right, protein shakes and lots of water.
I guess I need to start thinking about myself...take better care of myself.
Part of my brain keeps telling me protein shakes are expensive and I need the money for formula instead. Ugh..
Luckily portion size is still small...I know my pouch still works in regards to restriction. Hmmm.
Thanks!!!

Two protein powders I liked were the Designer Whey, especially the vanilla.....awesome as a smoothie made with skim milk and fresh/frozen fruits and some splenda or other sweetner you like and ice cubes mixed in the blender! I found this was also yummy with the Welche's (spelling?) single serve drink flavors (orange flavored) with ice cold water! It tasted like a cremecycle (spelling?)! I also like the Lean Muscle Meal chocolate packets (found at GNC) mixed with skim milk.....but I only used 1/2 a package at a time because it was very filling! You can find both of these on sale......the Designer Whey goes on sale for BOGOF often at Rite Aid and at GNC you can get a store card that gives you an additional I believe 30% off the 1st week of each month! It is also very helpful if you have a good shaker cup to mix your protein powders with milk or ice cold water!
Also, if portion size is not an issues with you, then start making a journal of what your eating....you might just be choosing the wrong types of food for you! You also don't necessarily have to use protein shakes, just make sure you eat your protein 1st at each meal and try to choose a protein snack (light string cheese, cottage cheese, yogurt, ham wrapped in the string cheese, nuts, etc) and if your craving something sweet, go more for fresh/frozen/canned fruits! I find the above mentioned smoothie to be better than ice cream!

Hi Jessica,
Maybe your body isn't ready to work out as much as you are right now.
Just remember abou****er and our protein first. Are you breastfeeding? - not sure what you're meant to eat for that.
Lastly, don't panic - it will come off, you're only 7 weeks post partum and you lost most within 2 weeks. You're doing great!!!!

Thank you Becky
I think you're right...my body may not be ready. I go to bed hurting from every move. I'm not even working out that hard. I guess in time it'll all settle down.
I definitely need to invest in protein shakes....like I mentioned to another post-easier to spend the money on formula for the baby than on protein shakes for me :-(
Thanks again!!
