16 week appointment

Had my appointment today.  It was the 1st time I heard the heart beat.  Very strong at 140bpm!  The doctor asked if I had any movement and I said I felt some flutters over the weekend, but now I was feeling flicks.  He said that would be the baby and as he palpated my uterus, the LO kicked him!  This baby is feisty!

He is running my B-12 levels since I'm a bypass patient and is happy I gained 6 pounds since my last visit.  Per my records they had me at a -3 for the 1st trimester.  Everything is looking good. I also had by quad screening drawn today.  My anatomy scan is still scheduled on June 9 with the perinatologist, so I'm looking forward to that.  I will also get an ultrasound at every office visit after this month to make sure the baby is growing ok.  They do this with all their bypass patients because they have found that mom's weight gain is not a good indicator if the baby is gaining.  My pregnancy journal is going to be jammed packed of ultrasound pictures by the time the baby gets here!

That's it for now. I have to study for my final next week, then NO MORE SCHOOL!!!

Glad everything is looking good.

Funny you mention your scrap book being packed with u/s pics; I just put about 5 more in my album and it's completely full.  I have had lots of u/s done throughout my pregnancy.

Think today was the last one as I am almost 37 weeks.

Wow, what a long time to wait to hear the heart beat....I'm sure you were releaved and very excited!  We are very close in due dates!  I have my anatomy scan scheduled for June 6th.....it was scheduled for May 31, but I had to change it because of a field trip I want to attend with my daughter that day!  How exciting that you get to see your little been every office visit!  I'm jealous!

Sounds good!  How are you feeling?  Are you past the horrific nausea?

They attempted to hear the heartbeat at my 12 week appointment but couldn't.  They did a transvaginal ultrasound and the baby was fine.

My nausea is a lot better. Thanks for asking!  I guess the 2nd trimester is going to be the easy trimester everyone talks about.  I'm less tired, but I still pee all day every day!  LOL

Now I'm trying to get used to all the movement in my belly.  I have to admit, it feels strange!   It just makes it more real that there is really somebody in there!
