Update on Baby Pirate #2 and the haps around here
Hi all ...
I just wanted to check in and give an update on little Layla and I. I am almost 35 weeks now and having contractions pretty much daily. A lot of people tell me, "Oh, I had Braxton Hicks, too.", but lemme tell ya ... this is not my first rodeo, and these are contractions. I'm great buddies with the L& D nurses now and have been a few times for consistant contractions, like , the kind you can clock for more than two hours. Most recently was last night. Got a bag of fluids and a shot of terbutaline, and spend most of the day trying to sit around, but with my wild red-head girl, I'm sure you can figure how that went. BTW, did you all know the new reccomendation (well, here anyway) is that if a momma presents as I did at 35 weeks, they let her go into labor and deliver? Are you kidding me? Yikes! This little nugget needs to bake a minimum of three, hopefully four more weeks!
Anyway, my baby shower is Saturday. I was against having one as this is my second girl in less than two years, but i was out-voted. Oh well. It will be a nice lunch, and I am very grateful for the generosity. I was just embarassed to have one. Feels like I'm asking people for things when we don't really need it.
We moved two weeks ago. We bought a house and moved out of our condo, and that's been a lot of work, but again - blessed beyond belief. Soooo thankful to have a yard for Lydia now, and have enough bedrooms and a kitchen big enough to make more than coffee in.
Other than those few things, I'm rolling along. Total weight gain is 22 lbs. I was 23 lbs with the first, so I think I'm on track.
Here are some recent pics of Lydia ... Baby dragon in her Easter dress, me and Lyd at 34 weeks pregnant ... she doesn't really get the concept that a baby is coming out of that massive belly ... in her new backyard with her uncle, and golddigging on Mother's Day. Keepin it classy.

Thanks, Becky! Yeah, I was really surprised, I do believe that if I make another L&D trip before 37 weeks, I'll be protesting that little policy. The brain development that happens between 35 and 39 weeks is just insane! She needs to stay!
I love that last picture of Lydia, too ... awesome. Totally saving it for prom.

You look GREAT! And Lydia is adorable - I just adored the scrunched up smile face. Have a few chats with your belly explaining she's gotta stay comfy for a few more weeks :)
Congratulations on the house!
