I think it's more to do with weight stabilization rather than a magic number on a calendar....  you don't want to lose weight from WLS during pregnancy. If your weight is stable, your labs are where they need to be, and your surgeon is ok with it, then there's no reason to hold off. Start taking your prenatals now. From what I remember you should have three months of folic acid to ensure healthy development of baby. With three months of previous folic acid and continued intake of it you decrease your risk of having a baby with spina bifada to like less than 97%.

The more you like yourself, the less you are like anyone else, which makes you unique. Walt Disney

I don't know anything about the VSG and how long you should wait, but I had RNY and was told 12-18 months.  I was over 4 years post-op when I had my last child.  As far as natural, water and home births.....I had all 3 of my children naturally (only had some stadal (spell?) with my 1st born) including my last pre-op baby.  I see a midwife nurse practioner and perfer to deliver in a hospital (just in case an emergency arises).  I see absoultely no reason why you can't do those as long as you have no complications that arise!  Also, I haven't had water births, but I did take full advantage of the jacuzzi tub during labor and it was a Godsend!  Best of luck!

Hey August Sleever, fancy seeing you here!  I had my surgery 12 days before you and I'm 14 weeks pregnant.  Pregnancy has been very uneventful (in a good way).  My OB is not worried about my sleeve causing any complications and my surgeons office has been really supportive as well.  My weight loss had slowed to a crawl (I was about 5 lbs from a normal BMI) and my 6 month labs all looked great.  I felt that I could easily up my calories if I needed to so my hubby and I decided to leave the rest up to God... about a minute later I was pregnant, lol.  I've gained about 2-3 lbs so far so I'm right on track with where I should be at this point.  I can eat anything and take all my vitamins, so nutrition has not been a concern.  Good luck with whatever you decide!
