How long did it take???
Hey all, I am new to this forum, but had a quick question for all of the seasoned WLS pts. Just like a lot of us on here, I did this (RNY) to get healthy to be able to carry a child. I am still fairly new out only 4 months and dont intend on trying until at least 14 months out but just wanted to ask a quick question. About how long, once you began trying, did it take you to actually conceive? My husbands wants kids like yesterday and he is wanting to know as well. Thank you in advance for your replies, if any :) Toodles!
Hi there!
I was five years out when I became pregnant with my first daughter, and she was a surprise ... got a BFP four days after our wedding. lol With our second, we discussed starting to try (I never went back on the pill, my husband travles A LOT so we used condoms) and were pregnant about ten minutes later. So, our girls will be 23 months apart.

If you want to wait a bit, make sure to talk to your surgeons office about the birth control. I know some of us don't absorb the pills properly so we may have to take further precautions. For me, I never went on the pill, never had a talk from the doctor about going on it. Then....8 months later after RNY I got a BFP. Just takes once! lol I even double ovulated and ended up having twins at the beginning, unfortunately one just wasn't strong enough. But good luck to u :)
For me, it took me over 3 years after surgery to get pregnant. I did not use any types of fertility drugs and my PCOS never lightened up or went away per say. I met my current husband in 2008. He has 2 biologically daughters, who were supposedly conceived while their uterus donor was on some form of birth control. So, we knew the problem wasn't with him, but was still within my body. We didn't try but didn't not try (i.e. did not use protection of any kind) and after 2.5 years, we got the shocker BFP!! I think it's different for everyone. Some women are more fertile after weight loss and some are not. It's really tough to get a gauge on it. However, best of luck in TTC when you start your journey, but it's is in your best interest as is your unborn child's for you to wait til your surgeon gives the go ahead. Good luck!
